I dont think Johns father (Mary Violets grandfather) was George from Campsall. He can be found in the 1881 UK census still living in Doncaster with his brother Samuel and is unmarried. He died in Doncaster in 1891.
There are other George Pease's born in Yorkshire around 1819 so one of these might be the man you are looking for.
Gary

Hello all,

I have been doing research on my Pease ancestry and have come to a snag.

I need to find out about an Elijah Pease born around 1778 in Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. Died around 1820 after he and his wife moved to New Sharon, Maine.

He married Mary Collins born 12 Oct 1785 in Cape Ann, Massachusetts.

This was the generation that started my ancestry in Maine and I would like to connect this Elijah Pease to the known lines back to Great Baddow.

Any help would be appreciated.

Jason Pease

I am researching the Pease family for a friend who is descended from William and Emma, I think. It seems that Milford, married first, a Josephine Elliot, and was father to John, b1916 and Leon b1917. Hence the married with a child on his WWI papers. Josephine, in 1920, is carrying the Pease surname, says she is married, with the 2 children, and living with her parents in Scottsville. John went on to marry Flora Chrysler and was father to Nancy, b in the 1940s. Nancy married Alan Rex in Naples NY, but there was a problem and they parted with their young son going with his father. My friend has never known his mother and asked me to help. He is now 48 years old. If anyone has any more info on this branch, please let me know. Thank you.

Great Baddow, Essex, England PEASEs - clues to the ancestors of,

Hello, I live in England and have been researching the Essex PEASEs on and off for 50 years - I started young! I am not a PEASE but related to some. Over many years I have become convinced that all of the Essex Ps are related somewhere in the past, a theory that I am still working on. About 5 years ago I found clues to possible, probable earlier ancestors of the Gt Baddow PEASEs prior to the Emigration on the 'Francis' in 1634 to America. Well I have continued with this area of research and have indeed managed to get back, quite a long way.

I have sent a message to the Rootsweb Pease List "pease-request@rootsweb.com" it is in PEASE Digest, Vol 4, Issue 20 Thursday, 13 August, 2009 with quite a bit of information and a challenge to the List to answer one or two basic questions and get a clue, or two to help them follow my research path which helped me find this information. There will of course be a prize at the end of the trail - a good one. So I thought those of you on this Message Board might like to join us on the PEASE list and participate.

Now and again I will post a clue, usually pictorial on my pease London/Essex Family Tree on Ancestry, which has not got much on it yet, as I have only just started this public tree

Just for starters I am attaching a picture - not a clue this one,to the above Pease tree on ancestry

Hope to hear from you.

best wishes rita
Hi, Cody,
Nice to meet you. My name is Linda and I live in Wisconsin. Are you related to the Pease family from New York? I'm looking for information on Mary Ann Pease, who lived in New York from 1820 to 1865. She was my great-great grandmother and I'd like to know more about her and her family. I don't know yet if I have any relatives in Missouri, but if I find out that I do, I'll get back in touch with you. Thanks for replying to my posting.
Linda
Pease Family from Ohio/California Arthur L, Cornelia , Paul N., Albert N., Marjorie

I would like to make contact with any relative or descendant of Arthur L. Pease (born about 1871 in Ohio), his wife Cornelia Pease (born about 1877 in Ohio), their son Paul M (or N) Pease (born about 1905 in California), their son Albert N. Pease (born about 1907 in California), and Marjorie M. Pease, wife of Albert N. Pease. Marjorie was born 1916 and died 2000 in Riverside or Pasadena, CA. Albert N. Pease was listed in an online phone directory (don't know when entry made) at age 101 and I do not find him in the Social Security Death Records as of April 2009. The Peases apparently were from Pasadena, CA and went to Ohio for a period of time, returning to Pasadena in late summer/fall of 1919. My grandparents were coming from Chicago to Alameda, CA at the same time and traveled some of the distance with the Pease family (except for Marjorie) in their automobiles. I have photos of the Pease boys Paul and Albert on this trip and want to share them with folks. I might also have Arthur and Cornelia's photos. Please note that the 1920 US Federal census transcribed the handwritten census page as Arthur S. Peare, but it is Arthur L. Pease, which is correct. The Ancestry Census page lists both the incorrect name and the correction.

My grandmother, Garphelia Pease, was born in Andover, VT in 1913. I have zero information on her side but she married DeForest Jones and lived her life in East Arlington. I assume she didn't like her name because she went by the name Betty.

Any Pease families out there that have a VT connection?

Dear Erinp121, I am the gggrandaughter of Charles Stone Pease and I live here in Jamestown,CA and have done quite a bit of research on the Pease's, Ferguson's,Sharrocks, etc. Please contact me and ask any questions and I will share what I know. Ella married Sanford Fitzgerald and had 12 children, Jasper being one of them. Are you related to Jasper? My line comes from Alfred "Tod" Pease. I am a 5th generation Tuolumne Co. resident. The family cemetery is Morgan Chapel on Wards Ferry Rd, just outside of Sonora. It's always fun to meet new relatives and I await hearing from you! Bonni Marion

My grandfather was everett w pease. Raymond was born 3/1891 and died 5/16/1928. either raymond or lloyd was found dead along a rail road track. it was thought suspicious as all his valuables were missing. the report i read said his body was mangled. maybe ran over by the train?
this is a strange tree for me. Oscar dunbar was married to susan rider. Their daughter was Emma J Dunbar. Emma marries William Pease. of their children, everett marries my grandmother adeline alette powley. they have three children.
some time after the 1930 census they are divorced. maybe that is when everett becomes a recluse. i don't think he remarries as his obituary states he "was the first husband of adeline..." Anyway, granny appears in columbus ohio shortly after married to a william dunbar.
one reason i am researching the pease family has to do with a genetic disorder passed down the male side of the family.
maybe your husband has been affected? Charcot marie toth disease - is a form of muscular dystrophy.
any other history you might know would be welcomed. thanx
I wonder are these dunbars (emma and william) related? where did granny remarry? ny or oh?
william dunbar adopts granny's three children and here we are.

Hello David!

My grandmother was also Adeline, and my mother was Wilma, daughter of Everett and niece of the unfortunate Lloyd (whom I have a blurry picture somewhere standing next to a cow.). Mom loved telling and retelling Lloyd's rather nasty ending.

According to my mom, Adeline couldn't get her divorce in NY, so she and William Dunbar (along with Leora "Aunt Lee," and Leland, "Uncle Buddy") moved from the state, supposedly on their way to California....but didn't make it very far. :) Of course, as you probably know, they ended up living in the Linden area of Columbus.

I remember her mentioning that Adeline and William Dunbar were related in some manner. Can't remember the details.

I also have Charcot-Marie...diagnosed when I was a child, so that sort of answers that question.

Amanda “Pease” Wheeler Lapham, 1777-1869), Asa Pease born about 1722, Enfield, Hartford County, CT
My Amanda Pease was born 1777 in Connecticut (according to her census data only), and died 22 Apr 1869 in Eaton, Madison County, New York (I have obituary). She is my 4th Great Grandmother. Amanda Pease married 1st Daniel Wheeler 1794 in Canaan, Columbia County, NY. Daniel Wheeler was born 1771 in Canaan, Columbia County, NY, and died 25 Dec 1806 in Lebanon, Madison County, New York. Daniel and Amanda Pease Wheeler had their first child in Canaan, Columbia County, NY just prior to removing to Lebanon (and Hamilton), Madison County, NY.

Amanda Pease Wheeler, widowed in 1806 with the death of Daniel Wheeler, married 2nd Deacon Duty Lapham in 1813. He was born 1775 in Glocester, Providence County, RI, and died 26 Mar 1846 in Eaton, Madison County, NY.

Amanda had a long and prosperous life as evidenced by her obituary and other data. I have been unable to find her parents, except circumstantially. The Federal Census for 1790, Canaan, Columbia County (where she appears to have married and did give birth of their first child) lists Daniel Pease Sr, Daniel Pease Jr., Asa Pease Sr. and Asa Pease Jr. I have eliminated both Daniel(s) because the book, “A genealogical and historical record of the descendants of John Pease, Sen., last of Enfield, Conn, by David Pease; Austin S Pease” did not list Amanda among the many children of them. However, while the book did not list children for Asa Pease, it did indicate he ended up in Hamilton, Madison County, NY (where Amanda Pease spent most of her life). It seems to fit. Also, I have seen that an Asa Pease died in Hamilton, Madison County, NY about 1820.

If you have any data or ideas how I can definitively make Asa Pease Amanda’s father (or any other Pease), I would appreciate your sharing them with me. Thank you. Richard Wheeler

Asa Pease 5, (Daniel 4, Robert 3, John 2, Robert 1) according to the book “A genealogical and historical record of the descendants of John Pease, Sen., last of Enfield, Conn, by David Pease; Austin S Pease”
Obituary, Amanda “Pease” Wheeler Lapham, 1803 – 1869, Hamilton & Eaton, Madison County, NY
Oneida Dispatch, Oneida, NY, May 07, 1869

Eaton (Madison County, NY), - Mrs. Amanda Lapham died at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. L. Joslin, in Eaton, April 22 (1869), at the advanced age of 92. Mrs. Lapham was one of the first settlers of the town of Lebanon, her husband, Daniel Wheeler, being one of the most enterprising of the pioneers, and by whose untimely death in 1806 the wife lost a truly kind companion and community a worthy citizen. Widowed, and the mother of five young children, yet like the true woman, as all our pioneer mothers were, she courageously bore her trials and managed her affairs with enterprising assiduity.

Mrs. Wheeler was one of the seven who composed the first Baptist church of Hamilton when Elder Olmsted was pastor, and from that day until the close of her long, eventful life, she was an earnest, consistent Christian. In later life she became the wife of Deacon Duty Lapham, who was long and honorably known to the people of Hamilton and vicinity. Mrs. Lapham was the mother of the wife of Rev. Jonathan Wade, missionary to Burma. Remarkable vigor, symmetry, and activity of body, as well as strength and clearness of mind, characterized Mrs. Lapham in her old age, and which did not fail her until her last illness, which was not of long duration. End of newspaper obituary.

Authors notes – Mrs. Lapham was actually the step mother of Deborah B. Lapham, the wife of Rev. Jonathan Wade. It is not clear to me if Duty Lapham had other children, but I assume he did. In fact, the above mentioned son-in-law, Lester Joslin, wife’s name was Mary, who must have been another child of Mr. Lapham. Clearly, it is not a child of Daniel and Amanda Wheeler. If anyone has knowledge of the other Lapham children, I would appreciate your sharing the information with me.

Children of Amanda (Pease – maiden name) & Daniel Wheeler are:

Erastus Daniel Wheeler, was born 28 Nov 1795, Canaan, Columbia County, NY and died 08 Aug 1863, Hamilton, Madison County, New York. He married Elizabeth Upham, 1832, Hamilton, Madison County, New York. She was born 1808, Hamilton, Madison County, New York and died 13 Aug 1868, Hamilton, Madison County, New York.

Edward Wheeler, was born 25 Jul 1798, Lebanon, Madison County, New York and died 08 Sep 1868, Broullitts Creek, Edgar County, IL. He married Narissa Jones, 25 Apr 1820, Clark County, IL. She was 25 Jun 1801, East Lebanon, York County, Maine and died 26 Jan 1882, Broullitts Creek, Edgar County, IL.

Sylvester Wheeler, was born 08 Mar 1801 in Lebanon, Madison County, New York, and died 14 Jan 1881 in Otselic, Chenango County, NY. He married Anna Pierce abt. 1826 in Otselic, Chenango County, NY, daughter of Ruth. She was born 1798 in Connecticut, and died 17 Oct 1887 in Otselic, Chenango County, NY.

Amanda Wheeler, was born 07 Jul 1803, Lebanon, Madison County, New York and died abt. 1875, Otselic, Chenango County, NY. She married Holland Turner, Jul 1824, Hamilton, Madison County, NY. He was born 09 Nov 1798, Walpole, Cheshire County, New Hampshire and died abt. Sep 1869, Otselic, Chenango County, NY. Rev. Holland Turner was a graduate of Colgate University’s 3rd graduating class of 1824 and was involved in church work in Otselic.

Fanny Wheeler, was born 21 Nov 1805 in Lebanon, Madison County, New York, and died 07 Feb 1878 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio. She married Peter Latimer 01 Jun 1826 in Homer, Madison County, NY, son of Picket Latimer and Eunice. He was born 30 Mar 1800 in Waterford, New London County, Connecticut, and died 07 Feb 1878 in Norwalk, Huron County, Ohio. Peter Latimer was a graduate of Colgate University’s 5th graduating class of 1826. However he eventually pursed a carrier in the newspaper business in Ohio rather that the Baptist theology taught at Colgate.

Note:
Amanda Pease (Maiden Name)
Amanda Wheeler (Daniel Wheeler, 1st Marriage)
Amanda Lapham (Deacon Duty Lapham, 2nd Marriage)

This Richard Wheeler’s 4th Great Grandmother
PEASE, Dorothy and Charles, Jr and Sr

I am looking for relatives on my father'(M[a]cDonald) side of the family. His first cousin was Dorothy Pease, wife of I think Charles Pease of Brooklyn, NY. They had a son and daughter by same names, Charles and Dorothy (aka Dottie). Dorothy, the mother, was born in Brooklyn, New York to Elizabeth McMullen. I don't know her step-father's name. Doorthy, the mother, was born in 1905, the daughter Dorothy in 1925. I believe that Dorothy and Charles, the parents, were divorced. Dorothy had brothers and sisters and step-siblings: Hercules, Herbert, Mae, Joseph, Elizabeth, and I believe Ruth Christiansen. Elizabeth McMullen had a pronounced speech defect. Could have been hard of hearing, I really don't know, just remember hearing her speak when I was very young. I am Agnes McDonald Walsh, daughter of Thomas M(a)cDonald/Donnell and Evelyn Rita McConnell. My siblings are Evelyn Rita Manning and Lorraine LaChance/LaPorte.
Thanks for any help at all.

Rick,
I am interested in the information that you have about Catherine, daughter of William Pease and Betsey Backus. Catharine was, indeed, the daughter of Elizabeth "Betsey" Pease. I am descended from Betsey and Catherine and, if you are interested, I can e-mail you a copy of Catharine's death certificate. I also have additional information about Catharine and Henry's descendants, of which I am one. I would be interested in the source of your information regarding Catharine's birth date and information about her parents as well as the information about Henry Miner and his parents.

Nettie Pease, b.1852 in Colden, Erie Co, N.Y., d.1929 in Aurora, Erie Co.,N.Y. Someone connected her to Orson and Mariah Pease of Aurora, Erie Co., N.Y as her parents. But I don't know what documents they have to support this. Nettie Pease married Floyd Anderson (b.1841 in Aurora, Erie Co, New York). I can find no Nettie Pease in census lists before she married, thus can not connect her to her parents. Any help? Send to evjane@joyfullyring.com. Nettie was my ggrandmother.
