John Peddie and Elisabeth Stewart of Perthshire

I'm still plugging away on my Peddie/Stewart lines. I have come upon information that indicates that the John Peddie in my line may have married Elisabeth Stewart 13 April 1794 in Moneydie, Perth, Scotland. If this is the correct couple they would have had a daughter Margaret. I did find a baptism in 1808 for a Margaret Peddie, lawful daughter of John. Margaret would have married David Robertson on 22 December 1825 in Inchture, Perthshire, Scotland. If anyone has information that fits with any of this, your assistance would be very much appreciated.
Thank you,
Stuart

Hello,
I haven't been having much luck with the Peddie family history. I know think that John's wife may have been named Elisabeth, but that's as much as I know right now. I keep digging and if I find anything I will pass it along.
Stuart

Hello Stuart

I am currently my fifth great grandfather Joseph Doctor, who married a Helen Peddie on 20 Jun 1807 in Inchture, Perthshire, Scotland. Have you got any further on this side of your family, as its a strong possibility Helen Peddie may be John Peddie's sister. Any help you could give would be appreciated

Hi,

I've hit a stonewall and hope that someone might be able to help me. I'm researching my thrid great grandmother Margaret Peddie and her parents John Peddie and Margaret Stewart. According to the information I have she was born about 1806. I have her marrying David Robertson 22 December 1825 at Inchture, Perthshire, Scotland, United Kingdom. She died 15 March 1859 at Rattray, Perthshire, Scotland. Her husband predecased her. Now with all this information you would think it would be easy to go back another step, but thus far I've had no luck. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thank you,
Stuart

Hi Betty:
Glad to see you researching the Peddie's. My census records of 1840 indicate that William was born in Ireland. Ballinloch is in County Meath. Ballindalloch is in Banffshre, Scotland around Speyside. Other census seem to indicate Scotland.
Regarding William's Children. The 1860 Census indicates Duncan was born around 1806.The 1870 Census shows Helen, b. abt 1813, James, b. abt 1815. Also I from Volume 1, pages 287-289 of "Hudson-Mohawk Genealogical and Family Memoirs," is indicates Daniel b. abt 1822, and Elizabeth b. abt 1820.
Could you give me some information as to the family of Helen, "Nelly" McIntyre. Who were her parents? etc.

James Peddie, born about 1750 in "Ballinloch" Scotland (from papers written in 1914 from Bible records), I cannot find this location, but suspect it was in Perthshire) had a son, William Peddie born at "Ballinloch" 1783 who came to the U.S. and married Helen McIntyre (born 1775 in Kenmore, Perthshire) about 1800. Their children were James, Eliza, Ellen, Duncan and Daniel. Peddie. I do not have dates of these children but know of several marriages and subsequent children.
Helen, wife of William Peddie died 3 January 1861 in Broadalbin, New York.
I have info to share on Helen McIntyre Peddie and descendants .
Betty Clifton

Looking for Scottish Connection

Peddies apparently emigrated to Ontario, Canada, possibly from Perth area of Scotland. Looking for clan connection, if any known. Grandmother was Christina, (married to Millard Fillmore) and only sibling I remember was a sister named Jessie, who died in Stratford, Ontario in 1960's. (I don't believe she ever married.) Any help appreciated. You may e-mail me at Drthyk@aol.com

Hi John,
Sorry I can't help on Peddies who went to New Jersey and that area. I just spoke with my mom, and our branch came directly to Michigan from Ontario, though one sister was left behind to be raised by an aunt. She never married and lived her life in Stratford. Mom is having trouble remembering some of the history, so I couldn't find out where my grandparents met, but evidently it was in Michigan, I'm just not sure where.
I once worked with a lady who had Peddies in her family tree, and I was always convinced she was related, as she seemed to have the "Peddie nose." She said her family was in Georgia, but I can't remember where they came from before that. Thanks for the message, and good luck with your search.

Dorothy Fraley

I'm looking for descendants of Charles PEDDIE (born abt 1829 in Perth) and Elizabeth MONK (born 13 April 1834 in Longparish, Hampshire). Charles was listed as Chelsea Pensioner in 1881 census. His father may have been James PEDDIE. Charles and Elizabeth were living in Overton, Hants. at the 1881 census. They had two sons that I know of:

William Charles PEDDIE (born 24 July 1872 in Windsor, Berks.; may have died between 1881 and 1889)

Robert John PEDDIE (born 9 April 1875 in Longparish, Hants.)

Elizabeth's father, brother and uncle all worked in the Royal household; it's likely she did as well.

Thanks.
