Mary Eleanor Peden / Alexander m. William Deaton

I'm trying to organize my records right now and am working on the children of Alexander David Peden (1804/SC-1877/TX) and Rebecca Durham (1809/SC -1869/MS). I've noticed that there are conflicting trees posted for his daughter, Mary Eleanor Peden, who apparently married William Deaton. I have found numerous census records for William D Deaton married to Eleanor, but the ages are a bit off if she was the daughter of Rebecca Durham. The census records lead me to believe that Eleanor was born around 1818/1819 and other members have posted trees stating that her last name was Alexander instead of Peden, being the daughter of Thomas Alexander (1795-1855) and Jane Jency Wood (1800-1899). Does anyone have more information about Mary Eleanor Peden or Eleanor Alexander that would help solve this? Thanks!

Amy

I saw the mention of a Peden in Ohio and thought I would reply because I am looking for any information on a Bert Peden of Ohio. The only information that I have is that he was married briefly to (Ethel)Eulala Brannan in Logan County. They were proabably married about 1920-1925. There were 2 offsrping of this union. Florabelle born in 1920 was raised by her mother and stepfather, Jonathon, born in 1923, ran away from home when 13, and I think he probably died in California in 1996. I would like information of Bert's ancestry or information about Jonathon's family. I can be contacted at bonnie_mangas@yahoo.com.
We now have a new tool to use in helping us with our research. ancestry.com has decided to get into the DNA testing and comparison arena. If you already have test results you can manually enter the DNA results for free into the ancestry.com database (see the DNA tab on the tool bar above).

If you have not tested yet please do so soon with any of the companies that provide that service and then provide the results to the ancestry.com database for worldwide comparison.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me, I am the group administrator for the Peden / Paden Family History DNA group.

Donald Paden
My info is that William Peden died of "liver cancer". If he and my aunt married in 1921 and he died in 1927, they were married longer than I thought.

I have NO info about her first husband "Mr Bramhall".

I think probably if he did indeed die in MO at my grand-parents home, then that was probably in Rocky Comfort, MO.

Is the surname on marriage certificate actually KILLION and not KILLIAN . . . ???

I have information after her (but not much for her and older as my older family members are now deceased). If you have anything on this side, it would be appreciated.

Robert Carl Peden, Mark Peden

I am looking for information on the Robert Carl Peden family. Robert was born 30 Aug 1905. I know his Soc. Sec. card was issued in Missouri, and I found a reference from the Naval Academy yearbook saying he was from Kansas City, Missouri. He died in, or near, Arlington, Virginia, in 1982. His wife's name was Mary Anna. He had a son named Mark.

I am trying to work on a family tree for my granddaughter. her mother is a daughter of Robert's son, Mark.

I did see that Mary Anna's Soc. Sec. card was issued in Connecticut, so I am guessing she may have grown up there, but I don't know even her maiden name.

Is anyone related to this family, or know anything that might help me discover more generations?

Thanks in advance,
Gloria

I found the record of the marriage of William Preston Peden and Flora Killion Bramhall, and thought you might be interested. It was filed in Drumright, Creek County, Oklahoma, June 5, 1921. I believe that you mentioned in one of your posts that William Preston may have died at the home of your grandparents in Missouri. Can you tell me what town or where in Missouri that may have been? William Preston was the brother of my grandfather, John Seaborn Peden. Feel free to contact me directly.

Hi,

I'm afraid that I haven't been working on ancestry for some time, but I've checked my database and I have no Allan, Alen or Alan Peden. I only worked up to the 1881 census so I wouldn't have had Elizabeth's birth. You would be best to get her birth certificate from http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/ to give you details of her parents' names and date of marriage.

Perhaps then I would be able to give you more information.

Anne

I have that family going back from Joseph a couple of generations and it's quite long. I have sent the details to someone else in the past and so I have it all in a single text file which I am unable to attach. If you would like to e-mail me with your address I can e-mail it to you.

This means I can now add a line about Joseph emigrating.

Anne@orecords.com

Re: African American Pedens In Kemper County

I'm making the assumption that the first message is about Kemper Co., Mississippi, where Samuel Peden/Paden and his large family settled in the 1830s.
There is more than one root family of Pedens in the U.S.A., so Y-chromosome DNA testing could be a great help in sorting that out for African American Pedens, as it has been for white Pedens.
You may already know that genetic genealogy is revealing that many African American male descendants of slaves have western European Y-chromosome genetics, and African mitochondrial genetics.
The SC Pedens which are my line, are descended from Colonial immigrants, John and Peggy McDill Peden. So far, the Peden/Paden Surname DNA Project has not found any genetic kinship between the descendants of the SC Pedens and descendants of their slaves.
But, I would encourage DNA testing for many genealogy reasons.
And, once African American Peden/Paden family groups are identified, the information could lead back to specific white families and locations in Southern states.
Barbara
