Mike
I am nearly 60 years old and I think I vaguely remember meeting you at your uncle Bob's funeral? The family call me Larry. Are you one of Corrine's children ?
I know your cousins Leslie,Dawn and Brian and I remember meeting a "Dougie"?
Are you one of the older sons of Bill?
I spoke with Laurie, your sister? She called me last year regarding a neighbor who was being transfered to TN.

I do wish that you had been able and a bit older to have spent some time with your grandfather. He was a treasure trove of Peery family history. He loved all of his Peery family.
I taped him once when he and aunt Jean were spending the weekend with me years ago.
He talked a bit about his grandfather and others in the family. I sat down with him several times and we went over
Peery history, I was writing and trying to listen to him and aunt Jean talking at the same time! Ha!
He had an amazing recall of the family history.
Nice to meet you as well.
The old Peerys' Bailey P and wife Nellie are buried in the Old Lenox cemetery which is on the Dyer county website.
I will try to find that link to send to you.
regards
J Larry

You seem to have alot of our history. My email address is ibenhad@yahoo.com I would like to know more about the family. I have been kind of an outsider since my mother and father divorced when I was 3 years old. I have taken it upon myself to find out who all of my relatives are on my fathers side. I remember meeting a Zenith in Bogota Tn years ago. A Jr. Fred. Dee Peery in Sikeston Mo. I remember hearing a story of a brother of my grandfathers being killed on a tractor that overturned. I think I remember them saying it was a Fordson Tractor on the little levee road in tennemo. I still visit Temmemo as a kind of pilgrimage. I love Tennessee and something overcomes me everytime I visit there. It seems like I have lost part of my life there somehow. Thank you so much for the reply. I wrote this awhile back and never thought I would see a reply. It was a pleasant surprise. Please keep in touch. In all these years have I ever met you? Maybe at the Peery Reunion they had when my Uncle Bob was alive? You say you talk to my Donnie (Jean)? Your name doesn't ring a bell at all to me? Anyway, nice meeting you Mr. James Green

Hello Mike
You grandfather was my great uncle. He is the son of James Richard Peery b.1874 d.1949. He is the grandson of Bailey Paten Peery b.1850 d.1926 .
The Peery family came from Tazewell VA right up near Kingsport in E TN. they migrated down to Hickman and Giles county TN. The Peery's are descended from three Peery brothers
who fought in the Battle of New Orleans. One of them, I forget whom at the moment was the "first listed wounded from that battle".
I spent much time with your grandparents during the 70's on until Uncle Ellis' death. I still talk with your "Donnie" often.

The Dee Peery you mention was your grandfather's nephew. He was the son of Nedra Hall Peery( a child bride) who died at 16 after some type of infection following a kitchen fire.

You grandfather had several brothers and sisters: Thes first two listed are the sons of JR Peery and Linnie Davis
who died in 1902.
Erskine W Peery b.1894 d.1964
Ezra M "Jack" Peery b.1896 d. 1964( my grandfather)
JR Peery married Ada Van Riddick(the mother of uncle Ellis and siblings) The children were raised w/o and distinction as step or half...they were all brothers and sisters.

Zenith Peery Strachn
John Wayne Peery (killed in a tractor accident) about the same time as Nedra Hall Peery Horner died.
Aldeon "uncle Red" Peery

Hope this helps some and I have a Family Tree -Green family Tree which is public and you can go there and read more about the Peery's.
They were originally from Knocklofty Ireland and came to Aloway NJ and then migrated down to VA and TN.

Let me know if this helps.
regards,
James Larry Green (your Dad;s 2nd cousin)

I may have more information regarding the name-change (Peery to Perry) that you describe, if you are still interested (the message is 7 years old). I am just beginning to do research into the Peery's in and around Westmoreland County (Colonial Beach), Virginia. The name-change relates to an argument among brothers; again, let me know if you are still researching. Regards.

Looking for the parents of Rachel Jane Peery/Perry (married RB McComb 25Dec1856 Clark Co., Illinois. Originally, I thought her parents were William Peery b.17Mar1789 and Catherine McClure, but received info it may be Samuel Ross Peery and Jane Ross. Don't see any of Sam's and Jane's kids listed as Rachel Jane and she is listed as having 8 kids. I have 8 I can positively ID as hers. I believe Rachel Jane may have been the youngest child in her family and orphaned when her parents died (?) and believe she was raised by Elizabeth Armstrong who I am told is somehow related.

Can anyone please help?

John PERRY born ca. 1640 at Knocklofty, Tipperary and dying ca. 1703 in Alloway, NJ.

I am trying to find out where this information comes from because it appears that everyone has copied the same information from the same source (whatever that may be.)

I am curious because I have the Will of the John Perry who bought the land at Alloway, which includes the names of his children etc. and this does not correspond with what everyone has noted for him or his children.

I am very confused and would appreciate any help.

thank you very much,
Karen

John Perry of Knocklofty married Elizabeth RIALL ca. 1680 -1683. Noted in his Will of 1710 at the Registry of Deeds, Dublin his children are:
RICHARD, JOHN, EDWARD, MICAJAH, SAMUEL, ELIZABETH, ANNE, GRACE, REBECCA PYKE, & SARAH.

He bequeathed his "Interest" in West Jersey (near Alloway) to his son John, who died 1759, also in Tipperary, Ireland. There is no mention of these lands in his will so I would assumed it was sold or passed on before his death.
I hope this is of some help.
Karen

I would love to see the info you have because you seem to be the only one with paperwork with John Peerys name. He is my 5th or 6th great grandfather. All I have is what I get from pedigree charts. You need to get land records which have alot of information on them. link is below, Contact me if you wish.
http://www.archives.gov/genealogy/land/
