Hello,
I just read your message board at Ancestry. I also have Pelkey family. Harriette Pelkey was born February 1880 in Chateauguay, NY and died October 9, 1947 in Tupper Lake, NY.
She was the daughter of Napoleon and Eva Pelkey. In 1880 ccensus they were living in Belmont,Franklin, NY. Hattie married Richard Costigan in 1896. He was born in Canada 1886? Immigrated to NY in 1890 and worked as a lumberjack, I think Emoporium Forestry Co. Richard and Hattie had three children; Thomas born 1897, John born December 9, 1898 he died October 18, 1945 in Tupper Lake, NY and Mina Costigan my grandmother, she married Frank Baker 1921 Quebec, Canada. After Richard was murdered outside the Waverly Inn (French Village) Tupper Lake, NY she married Damase-Onesime Bernier 1901 in Piercefield, NY. Archived newspapers refer to Damase as Joseph. If you have any information on this family, could you please e-mail it to me. I am doing the family genealogy and haven't been able to find much on this family.
Thank you so much for your time
Sincerely
Elaine
ebbb1147@aol.com

Augustus Pelkey, 1800s

Augustus Pelkey is said to have eloped with Alvina Courtois before 1860 and then shortly thereafter left with a number of family for Montana, eventually reaching the Bitteroot Valley near Missoula. They are said to have lived in the Florissant area north of St. Louis. They reached Walla Walla, in what was then the Washington Territory in 1862. Pelkey seems to be a corruption of Pelletier.

Sadie Sarah Octavia Robertson, was born about July 1873 in the St. Louis Area. We do not know anything about her parents or siblings.

Hi,

Nice to hear from you. Julius Pelkey's brother Edward was my paternal great-great grandfather, Edward left VT about 1856 and settled in Will County, IL. Edward's daughter Antoinette (Nettie) Pelkey (married Waling) was my great-grandmother.

Edward is mentioned in a newspaper article in Rutland County concerning Julius Pelkey's death and is listed as his brother.
Hi,

Great to hear from you. Don't know for sure if Emily Billings was sister of Matilda Billings, Julius Pelkey's wife, but I always assumed so, no evidence though.

I do know th at Edward Pelkey, my ancestor, was the son of Alexander Pelkey now. Edward did not have a death certificate so I couldn't look there but a descendant of Julius Pelkey found a small newspaper article about Julius Pelkey's death in 1897 and in the article it mentioned that Julius was survived by a brother Edward Pelkey from Illinois (Edward died in 1898). So this is conclusive evidence that Edward was a brother to Julius and David as I thought he was. (also Anthony and Jeremiah).

By the way, Alexander was living with Edward in 1870 in the census of Iroquois County, IL so Alexander must have been visiting him.

Feel free to e-mail me direct anytime, I'd love to share more with you.
Re: pelkey family

I think this is the correct link in my tree. Wallace R. Pelkey's parents were Philbert Robert Pelletier and Adeline Tebeau, married 1858 in St. Louis, MO. Philbert was born in 1832 in Missouri and died Feb 18, 1906, in Spokane WA. Adeline was born Dec 4, 1832 and died March 4, 1897 in Missoula, MT. According to the 1870 Census, Philbert (Robert) was the sheriff of the county. From "Society of Montana Pioneers" Robert A. Pelkey arrived at Hell's Gate, in August 1861.

Philbert's parents were Auguste Pelletier (b May 18, 1805 in Missouri) and Marie Reine (Queen) Smith (born May 5, 1807 in Missouri).

Hope this helps.

I believe I have more names to finally add to the Pelkey list I'm working on. Lewis' parents were Archie and Alice Pelkey. There were several children on the 1920 Census. They are Alfred, Mary Ann, Albert, Eva, Almeda & Alfreda (twins I'm assuming by age) Sadie and Lewis. Those are in order from oldest to youngest. From 1904 to 1919. In one census it says all the children were born in Maine in another it appears to say Canada. So I'm not too sure just where they were born yet. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Elizabeth

My wife is from the David and Emily Pelkey line. Emily's full name was Emily Baily Billings. I was wondering if she was Julius Pelkey's wife, Matilda. I also got from a source that Alexander was born in 1785 in St Roch, L' Assomption, Quebec, Canada. We don't have any ideas about your ancestor, Edward Pelkey; but if you like to correspond, please do.

Hi,
It has been a very long time since I have posted. I am still looking for Ronald Pelkey. Not sure if I am even spelling the last name correctly. Ronald would now be approximatley in his 70's. 41+ years ago may have lived in WI. I know that he was musically inclined and might have even played in a band. Can anyone help me at all locate him or direct me to somewhere or someone who may be able to help? Thanks All! Look forward to hearing from anyone.
