I am looking for info re: my great grandmother, Susan Pence Brown Franklin Hancock.

I believe she was born abt. 1834 in Va. She died 1884 and is buried in Craig C.,Va.

She was married to an Unknown Brown between 1850-1860, an Unknown Franklin between 1860-1870, and Stephen Andrew Hancock in 1873.

She had children by all three men, all of whom, including my grandmother, Florence Belle (Franklin) Hancock Craft, were adopted by Stephen Hancock.

She is NOT the daughter of Catherine Bower and Phillip Pence of Mt. Jackson, Shenandoah Co, Va., although she is listed as such on some web sites. That Susan Pence was born, married (to a Mr. Foltz), died, and was buried in Shenandoah Co, Va. I have verified this with a member of the Pence family, who has extensive research and documentation.

Any help identifying my great grandmother and/or my biological great grandfather would be most appreciated.

On edit, 16Jun2011: I now have reason to believe that Susan was not married to either an unk Brown or unk Franklin, and that all of the children were most likely fathered by Stephen Andrew Hancock, to whom she was married in 1873.
