We have some Pennocks in our background and the family originally
settled in the New England Area. We trace them back to Samuel
Pennock born of Yorkshire , England who came to America with
his wife Mary Wilson, and through their son,
James Pennock who was born aboard ship in 1714. The family settled in
Middleton , Ct. and later moved to Stratford, VT. There was annother son Williamm
born in Ct. Lyme, Ct. in 1718. James and his wife Thankful
Boardman had eleven children. There were nine boys and two girls. the family
was loyalist during the American Revolution,
and both James and his brother William were killed
in the battle of Freeman's Hill near Saratoga, New York.
Their lands and goods were confiscated during the war becasue of their loyalist tendancies
and this caused the family much hardship. However the family was very prominent in Stratford,
Vermont and allowed to return to the community after the war was over.
I don't know if your Pennocks trace back to New England, but this is a place to look.
I hope this helps.
