Children were Oscar, Sadie, John, Boyett, Archibald, Hiram Jr, Kasper, O'Bannon and Olymphus (my grandfather). Any information or leads would be appreciated!

Vashti Perham, b. 1859 Winsham, Somerset, England, d. 1937 Kendall County, Illinois

I'm researching Vashti Woodcock PERHAM.

Per the 1881 British census she was born in Winsham, Somerset in 1859. She was married to William King BROWN. I have a marriage date for them of 16 September 1880 in Chard, but no verification of this, yet. The date comes from Vashti's obituary. In 1881 she & William lived in Winsham with their infant son, William. The elder William was a shepherd.

They left England for the United States in 1883 and settled in Illinois, in the Kendall county area. I cannot located them anywhere in 1900. In 1910 they were in Kendall county and in 1920 in La Salle County.

Vashti's obit gives her date of birth as 13 October 1859 and her date of death as 19 October 1937 in Millington, Kendall County, Illinois. She is buried at Millington-Newark Cemetery in Kendall county. William BROWN died in 1941.

Vashti's middle name of Woodcock comes from the birth record of her youngest child, Gladys, in the Kendall county, Illnois birth register.

I'm looking for any information about Vashti's parents and siblings. I'm happy to share the information I have about her descendants.

Eugene LaForest Perham was born in Peterborough NH in 1827. I have not been able to determine who Eugene Laforest Perham's parents were. I expect they were residents of Hillsborough County NH. He might be one of the children of David or John Perham of Lyndeboro(ugh) that show up in the 1840 census, but this is just a guess.

I have ascertained that one of Eugene Laforest Perham's many children was Arthur Perham, my grandmother Margaret Perham's father.

While searching for Charles Perham of Whitefield Maine in the 1860 census, I found a Charles in Boston in a hotel or rooming house along with an Isaiah Perham. Both were listed as born in NY. The Charles was 25, about the right age for the man I was looking for, but I can find no record of an Isaiah Perham born in NY around 1816. Does anyone have him in a family list?? Thanks

Seeking any Perhams who may connect to the following:
William Perham b. 1808 in ? died 1879 Three Oaks, MI. Married Mary Ann ?, born 1812, died 1891 in Three Oaks, MI. Known children are: Merritt, Milton Henry (b. 1840), Philena (b. 1849). Another daughter, name unknown, was living in Pennsylvania Jan 2, 1928, but died prior to Oct 20, 1931 (probably in Pennsylvania). There are 6 other children I would like to find. Believe some may have remained in Pennsylvania when parents moved to Michigan. William and Mary Ann lived in Cherry Valley twp, Astabila Co., Ohio in 1849. Moved to New Richmond, Pa in 1851 (a news clipping says they lived in John Brown's tannery for a short time). Relocated to Berrien Co., MI in June, 1867. Would appreciate any and all clues to Perhams in these areas. Would love to share accumulated information on known siblings. Thanks in advance.

Samuel Perham (1717-1760)

I am researching a Perham family that resided in New Ipswich, NH. My 5-great-grandfather, SAMUEL PERHAM (1717-1760), s/o John and Experience (Powers) Perham, moved to New Ipswich in the early 1750s. He and his wife, MARY, had seven children -- Samuel Jr., Amos, Mary, Lydia, Sarah, Asa, and Elizabeth. In 1760, both Samuel and Mary died within a week of one another, leaving the 7 children orphans. Samuel's brother, Lemuel, was appointed guardian, but he ultimately refused to take the children in. They became town charges and were raised by several New Ipswich families.

My ancestress was SARAH PERHAM (b. 1754), who later made her way to Fryeburg, Maine. She m. PUTNAM FARRINGTON (b. 1756) in 1779.

I would like to make contact with anyone else researching this particular Perham family. I have never been able to discover the maiden name of Samuel Perham's wife, Mary, and would like to know if anyone else has made any progress with her.

Eula G. Perham Obituary

Source: "The Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle" Newspaper, Clarksville, Montgomery County, Tennessee.

Date of Newspaper: Thursday, February 6, 1879

PERHAM-In Greenville, Illinois, January 31, 1879, in the 13th year of her age, Eula G. Perham, daughter of R.C. and Mary (Ware) Perham. Her mother died when she was an infant since which time her life has been an eventful one; having had as many different homes as she numbered years of age. A more lovable character I have never seen; combining a woman's experience and judgement to a child's innocence and grace together with an unusually bright mind and winning ways, she attracted all who knew her and to those who knew her intimately, during her short stay among us, she won their warmest affections. Knowing she could not live long, her aunt asked her one day, "If she had ever thought of the probability of not getting well" she replied, "Yes, and I would not care if it was not for leaving Papa". Her heart-broken father, who arrived the day before she died, wrote, "Oh! that you could see her one more time, just to see how resigned she is" To him we would say "Your treasure is in Heaven; no more suffering for her; no more grieving for 'Papa to come' meet ther there.

This is the entire entry in the newspaper. If anyone would still like a copy of the original newspaper item please contact me at:
kaitysmom@peoplestel.net

Moses Perham

I did a search of Moses Perham and found a reference to a Moses Starling Perham, Cabin boy on a navy ship for the Patriot side and damned if I did nor print it out and cannot find it again on a subsequent search. Does anyone here know of this? It could mean both Benjamin Perham and his son served in the Revolutionary war. True? The derivative stubborness of this is, if true , that it may provide a clue about the utterly mysterious Rachel Clamans who lived to 91 (she died in 1824) without ever telling a soul who her parents were.My great grand mother Edith Frances Perham was alive when Sylvanus Gates Perham was alive, he in turn was alive when Rachel Clamans was alive. Just a July 4th 2003 kind of revelling in my ancestors accomplishments. Definitely I want to know more about them.

I'd like to request some assistance in identifying "Auntie Perham". I have 2 letters from her addressed to my ggrandmother, Frances (Bailey) Tuggey, dated 1887 and were posted from Oswego, NY. So far, and I'm only guessing, I believe her to be Miranda, whose maiden name would have been "Gates", a sister to Frances' mother, Angeline (Gates)Bailey who married Alfred Bailey around 1830 or so in Oswego or Mexico, NY. The reason this connection might make sense is because I have found a Miranda Perham married to Levi Perham, an Undertaker, in the 1880 US Federal Census in Oswego, Oswego County, NY.

Any help is, of course, appreciated.

I am looking for a descendant of Genie Perham Fish. I have found an old picture that I would like to return to one of Genie's kinfolks. My best guess is that the picture was taken probably between 1890 - 1896. On the back of the picture it is written in cursive "Genie Perham". On the front it is printed "Genie Perham Fish".

If you are a descendant of Genie's please contact me at lme@flash.net

Elaine Walton Lewis

Eugene LaForest Perham

My grandmother's name was Margaret (Perham) Hobbins, born Jan 1908, d. Feb 1983. Before she died, she told me about her grandfather, Judge Perham, a pioneer in Oregon.
I'm not sure, but I believe the person in question is Eugene LaForest Perham, born 29 Aug 1827 in Peter(s)borough, Hillsborough Co., NH.

My first question: who was Eugene Perham's father and grandfather? How does his line fit in with the John Perham and Lydia Shepley line so remarkably collated by Janet Helen Derbyshire?

My second question: who was Eugene Perham's son who was the father of my grandmother Margaret?

Does anyone know where I can find the Book-Perham-Shaw-Barrows-Jackson Genealogy by Jessie Perham. I am sure My brick walls are in there. I have been told the Barrows are related to Andrew Jackson. The last 3 Generations in my Family have passed down the name Jackson as a middle name of the 1st born son. This was to carry on the Jackson Name. Also My Grandfather's Brother has 2 of Jacksons pistols. I am sure the connection is in this book. But I can't find it anywhere. Any Help Appreciated,
Thanks, Debbie(Barrows)Plumb
D_Plumb@msn.com

Perham/Bartlett Mystery

Hello, I have some letters written by Clifton Perham to his cousin, and later his wife, Cora Viette Bartlett in the 1880s. I'm trying to learn more about these people. Clifton lived with his parents in Terre Haute in 1882 but travelled a lot as a builder of bridges. Cora and he were married some time after 1889 and she evidently remained in Ionia Michigan with her mother. I can't find records showing that he lived there too. They had no children. There is another cousin, Eugene B. (Bartlett?) mentioned. Anyone know anything about these folks?
