i was born january 17, 1936 at the Brooklyn women's jewish hospital...my mother Gertrude pelow Siegel passed away on or about jan. 23, 1936.

Harriet, my family immigrated from Alsace around 1870. We believe they were of East Prussian origin and we understand they left to avoid joining the Prussian army. As far as we know, they were Christian. From a similar area to your family. There is probably no connection but it is interesting to hear about your background.

We have heard that our family immigrated to the US from Alsace in the 1870s. They moved to Missouri. We had always heard that they considered themselves French but when we checked the baptismal records the names were very Germanic. This could have been the result of anti-German sentiment during the First World War. I have also heard that the name is a noble Prussian name often preceded by "von". I know that there are Russian Jewish families with the same surname but we do not appear to come from that origin. Any thoughts?

I don't know too much about my birth mother's family. She
*.passed away the week I was born in 1936. From what I can deduce, she was born in 1909 in Latvia. on April 1st...(Russia on my birth certificate)....*she was 27. The Perlow family settled in Brooklyn. Her name was Gertrude (nee Perlow] Married name was Siegel.

Dear Harriet, my great-aunt Esther Grimovich married a David Perlow(sky). David was a dress manufacturor in Manhattan. He had several siblings, but I don't know who they are. I have a living contact in this family who might know the names of David's brothers & sisters. I know Esther was from Grodno gubernya, possibly from Slonim. I don't know where David was born.

Irene Perlow, age 77, and a resident of Albuquerque, passed away May 28, 1998. She was born April 4, to Benjamin and Jennie Perlow in Newark, NJ. She is survived by her son, Bob Penziner of Albuquerque; sister, Charlotte Smith and husband, John Murchison of Las Vegas, NV; brother, Jack Perlow of Lenox, MA; and friend, Stephanie McEven. Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, 11:00 a.m., June 2, 1998, at Fairview Memorial Park with Rabbi Celnick officiating. Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE, in charge of arrangements.

I am trying to find members of the Perlow family from Latvia.

My late mother was Gertrude Perlow Siegel who passed away around January 23,1936 at the Brooklyn Women's Jewish Hospital. I was born January 17, 1936. The family settled in Brooklyn, NY...might you possibly be a member .
of this famly.My mother had a brother Nathan Perlow, a few two sisters, two that I know of were Ruth (the only one born in this country,) and ida.
