Looking for information on Spencer Pernell who married Mary Lowe. Counties of Doddridge, Tyler,Harrison & Marion in West Virginia. Children of Spencer and Mary....Louisa, Julia Ann, Mary Ann, Charlotte, Ellenor, Elizabeth, Alcinda,Joseph, Fielding,and James.

1850 Census has them living in Doddridge County, 1840 Census has then in Tyler County, 1830 & 1820 they are in Marion County.

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Kent County, Delaware as his home of record. His remains were never recovered.

Soldier: JAMES PHILLIP PERNELL
Born: October 24, 1931, Black
Date of loss: Feb. 14, 1951, Prisoner of War (POW)

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The Pernell family is one of those missing.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. They died in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, on June 6, when their camp received indirect enemy fire during combat operations. Both soldiers were assigned to the 46th Engineer Battalion, Fort Rucker, Ala.

Killed were:

Sgt. Carlos E. Pernell, 25, of Munford, Ala.

The reason I was asking is that I bought an old picture book in Oakdale, La that someone else had bought around the Hammond,LA area, and the name Bill Pernell was on the back of one of the pictures.He was about 10 years old. It was a school photo dated 1944-1945 school year. I'm trying to find this family and return the old photos. Thanks. I'll keep looking.

I am looking for information on Frances Pernel, b. 1826 d. 1917. Alternate spellings for her name include Francis for the first name and Pernell or Purnell for the last name. She was married to Lambert Ayers. The only information I have on them is from the 1880 census in Boonevill, Logan, Arkansas. Lambert was 56 (born 1824). He was born in Maryland. His parents were also born in Maryland but I don't know who they were. I descend from Frances and Lambert's daughter Lida Ayers.

My name is Mike Wells, I am from Vance County, my Grandmother was Lucy Ann Pernell. She was married to Fred Vivian McFall. I think she was born in Franklin County, somewhere close to Louisburg. My bio. father is Darryl, at the time I was born (jan. of 75') he was 17 yrs. old & lived in atlanta ga.& I know he was still here in 81' for the adoption, but I don't know anything else about him or our family. Does anyone know him? I would guess he was born some where around 1958.

My Pernell side of the family is from Churchhill Mississippi, a very small town south-east of Natchez Mississippi. I can't began to imagine what it may look like now or back in the late 1920's when my grandparents left.
I do know that that little town should and will have alot of questions and answers for me.

I haven't been on this site since summer. My Father is Wayne Thomas Pernell born in Portland Oregon about 1945. He was an only child and possible adopted close to birth. Wayne is African American, atleast 1/2. I am looking for any of his (my) relatives. His (adoptive) parents' names are Annie and Altheston, now deceased. Does anyone out there have any info for me?

Eddie Pernell

STARKE-Eddie Pernell, 88, of Starke died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at Windsor Manor Care Center in Starke following an extended illness.

Born in Starke, Mr. Pernell returned to Starke from New York, N.Y. He was a retired custodian and an affiliation member of Mr. Moriah United Methodist Church of Starke.

Mr. Pernell is survived by: a son Ike Pernell of New York, N.Y.; a brother DeWitt Pernell of Macclenny; a grandson and caregiver Ike Pernell of Starke; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Pernell will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2002, with the Rev. James McNeal conducting the services. Interment will be in Johnson Cemetery in Starke under the direction of Haile Funeral Home of Starke.

Visitation Friday, May 24, 2002. Family hour 4-5 p.m.; friends 5-8 p.m.

Note: I am of no relation, but my sympathies go out to those of you who are. This is here as a lasting memorial for Mr. Pernell.

Hi, I wonder if there is a blood connection here. Wayne Thomas Pernell was born in Portland, Ore and moved to California around 1975. His parents were Annie and A.T Pernell. As far as I know neither one of his parents were born in Ore, but that is where they lived their entire adult lives. Are you african american?

I am the wife of Christopher Pernell originally of Dayton Ohio, his 3 great uncle was Benjamine Pernell (founder of House of David). Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. His grandmother was Alice Smith Pernell and his Grandfather was John Henry Pernell alothough John Henry's Name was misspelled (Parnell) on his birth certificate and was never corrected, he went by Purnell until later years and when he started business in Ohio he changed the spelling to Pernell and well there you have it. I was given this information by one of his daughters but I would like to have documentation to prove it or another source.
