We had a request for information on the Perry families of Davison Co., SD. The largest family group seems to descend from Ezra of Sandwich, MA. He and son Benjamin appear in Clarence A. TORREY's New England Marriages to 1700 & in James SAVAGE's Genealogical Dictionary. There is a more detailed article by Lydia P. Brownson & Maclean W. McLean, "Ezra Perry of Sandwich, MA." in the New England Hist. & Genealogical Register, 1961-1962. Mayflower Descendant Magazine, Vol. 14, reported that Ezra Perry m. 12 Feb. 1651, Elizabeth Burge[ss]. Births of all the children of Ezra except Sarah were recorded at Sandwich & published in Mayflower Descendant. There is a break in the records about 1660, when Sarah was born. Wife, the recorded children, and dau. Sarah were in Ezra's will. On 10 July 1663, Thomas Burge, Sr., Sandwich, conveyed to his son-in-law Esra {sic} Perry half of a tract at Manomett, per Plymouth Colony Deeds, 18:86.
On 7 & 8 June 1659, Ezra Perry probated the estate of Sarah Perry...there being no other (although she had many friends in the country) that claimed interest in the estate, having put securities into the court to be accountable for the estate encase it shall bee required by any that hath better title thereto. [That leads to speculation as to the relationship between Ezra & Sarah. The wording seems to indicate that he wasn't her son.]
Ezra Perry made his will 16 Oct. 1689, and his tombstone indicates that he died that day. Widow Elizabeth verified the inventory. She died 26 Sep. 1717, in her 88th year, per tombstone at Sandwich.
Benjamin Perry (15 Jan. 1670 - 25 Aug. 1740+) m. Dinah Swift, dau/o Ruth & Wm. Swift of Sandwich. The will of Wm. Swift, 17 Je. 1705, gave personalty to dau. Dinah Perry.

James Leonard of Taunton & widow of John Willis of Easton. James Leonard deeded 2 May 1765, to dau. Mehitable Perry & grandson James Perry, heir of his father Capt.
