I am looking for the family of Stephano Petrov of Svestov, or Svishtov, Bulgaria. Born - November 2, 1896 and died April 2, 1985. He was my grandfather (my father's father.) He immigrated to the United States after leaving Austria when the war started -somewhere between 1914 and 1917. He left Bulgaria when he was 17 - 1913 or 1914. He stayed with one of his brothers in Austria - (first name of brother possiibly George or Mike.) He had 5 brothers and 4 sisters 3 brothers of which he did not remember names of. Sister's names were Maria,Donna,Denna,and Metta. Father or mothers's name was Stella. He fought in WWI and became a nuturalized citizen because of this. He made arrangements to work in a coal mine in Iron River, Michigan before arriving in the US. They paid his way here. He lived in Dubuque, Iowa, a state along the Mississippi. If anyone at all knows anything about this family I'd be eternally grateful for the information. Several years ago my cousin Sandy was in Sophia trying to find out more without this info we later found. While emmigrating to the US his name was changed to Peters.
