I am actively researching our family as well. This is what I have come up with so far

John and Katherine Pfeiffer are my g grandparents.
They both were born in New York.
Their parents immigrated to America prior to 1850.
An early census show their parents coming from Germany. Still trying to track that down.
One source indicates they were Jesse(jake)1853 (Kisner, Kistner SP), (approx)and Martha Stuedeman, studeman His father was George (Kisner, Kistner SP), (approx)1816 - 1838 from Germany

Antony (Anton), a millwright, was my grandfather.
Freda Mareske (his wife), a shoe dresser, born 1886, in Germany. Her family immigrated in 1892 at age 6 and is my grandmother.
Her brother Paul, born 1889,
Earnst, born 1891, are my great uncles.

Katherine’s maiden name was Kitzner (Kisner, Kistner SP), (approx)
she was born 1856 and John was born 1850, both being born in New York. John was born in new York, as were George and Antony. The moved to Dubuque between 1879 and 1885 where Rosa was born. Freda was 6 years old.
John Pfeiffer 1850
Katherine Kitzner 1856
John son Dec 1874
George son Aug 1877
Antony son Oct 14, 1878 - Mar 20, 1941
Rosa dau Jan 1885
Henry son Apr 1890
Elizabeth dau Jul 1891
Frank son Oct 1892
Jacob son Jun 1884
Mame dau Oct 1894
Charles son Aug 18, 1896 - Nov 1, 1968

Anton Pfeiffer and Freda Mareske: Married 25 Jan, 1906 in Dubuque, Iowa
All the children of Anton and Freda were born in Dubuque, IA

George son 1906
John son 1908
Henry son 1909
Clarence son 1911
Ernest son 1912
Clara dau 1914
Margaret dau 1918
Bernice dau 1920
Katherine dau 1921
Elizabeth dau 1922
Vincent son Nov 27, 1923 - Aug 19, 1969
Roy son 1929

My dad said there were a total of 14 children. My guess is that two died and were not listed in the census.

They lived at 828 E. 16th St. Dubuque, Iowa
Freda lived at 1354 Maple St., Dubuque, Iowa which is about two blocks from the Pfeiffers.

Freda’s parents were Andrew Mareske: born Sept 1856 and Katherine Voelker born November 1860. They were all from Germany and immigrated to American 1n 1892 when Freda was 6 years old. She had two brothers,
Paul: 1889,
Ernest: 1891

Hope this helps.
My great great grandfather is Jacob Pfeiffer born in 1828 and died in 1905. Came to the US in 1848...from Alsace Loraine area of Germany at the time... He married Agatha Meier (native of Switzerland). Interesting side note here is that 4 of his grandchildren (children of John and Annie) married 4 Sriegels. The Striegel family traces back to the Baden-Wurttemberg area as well (Braunenweiler)... We have a full and extensive tree developed through th eyears on Jacob's descendants but have been unsuccessful getting information on the ancestors (thinking records had been destroyed in the war). We believe his father's name was John?

Matthias Pfeiffer - various spellings

My Great Grandfather on my Father's Mother's side was Matthias Pfeiffer or that is the way my Grandmother spelled it. In doing some genealogy research I have found that surname in our family spelled several ways and would like to know what the original spelling was before it was changed and if it was changed due to his immigration to the U.S. or for some other reason. I am also trying to locate his birthplace and his parents and lineage. The various spellings I have discovered for Pfeiffer include: Phifer, Pheifer, Pheiffer, Pfieffer, and Pfeiffer. There may be others that I am not yet aware of but any help would be appreciated.

My Great Grandfather Matthias Pfeiffer was born in Sept. 1858 according to some old census records. He emigrated from Germany, Port of Bremen in 1884, arriving in Baltimore, Maryland, US in June 84. He married Julianna Muench (who had emigrated from Germany one year earlier than he) in 1900.

Change the beard and mustache a bit and it is rather uncanny. The ears, the nostrils are identical. Amazing

John and Katherine Pfeiffer are my great great grand parents. They both were born in New York and their parents immigrated to America prior to 1850. Jacob was one of their sons. He was born in June, 1884. His brother, Antony, a millwright, was my grandfather. Freda Mareske, a shoe dresser, born 1886, in Germany and immigrated in 1892 at age 6. Freda was John’s wife and my grandmother. Her brother Paul, born 1889, and Earnst, born 1891, are my great uncles. Katherine’s maiden name was Kitzner, (approx) she was born 1856 and John was born 1850, both being born in New York. John was born in new York, as were George and Antony. The moved to Dubuque between 1879 and 1885 where Rosa was born. Freda was 6 years old.
John Pfeiffer 1850
Katherine Kitzner 1856
John son Dec 1874
George son Aug 1877
Antony son Oct 1879
Rosa dau Jan 1885
Henry son Apr 1890
Elizabeth dau Jul 1891
Frank son Oct 1892
Jacob son Jun 1884
Mame dau Oct 1894
Charles son Aug 18, 1896 died Nov 1, 1968

Anton Pfeiffer and Freda Mareske: Married 25 Jan, 1906 in Dubuque, Iowa
George son 1906
John son 1908
Henry son 1909
Clarence son 1911
Ernest son 1912
Clara dau 1914
Margaret dau 1918
Bernice dau 1920
Katherine dau 1921
Elizabeth dau 1922
Vincent son Nov 27, 1923 My father, died Aug 19, 1969
Roy son 1929

My dad said there were a total of 14 children. My guess is that two died and were not listed in the census where I got this information.
They lived at 828 E. 16th St. Dubuque, Iowa
Freda lived at 1354 Maple St., Dubuque, Iowa which is about two blocks from the Pfeiffers.
Freda’s parents were Andrew Mareske born Sept 1856 and Katherine Voelker born November 1860. They were all from Germany and immigrated to American 1n 1892 when Freda was 6 years old

Hope this helps.
parents of Julia F Pfeiffer Keller

My Ggrandmother is Julia F Pfeiffer b Ohion lived in Fort Wayne IN (1862-1936), She married Charles keller and moved to nebraska and Utah. I have conflicting information about her parents names and could use any help from this board.
In her obituary she says her father is john (1820)pfeiffer/catherine. She also reports in a census that her mother is Ella Pfeiffer? Others list her father as joseph (1824) A Pfeiffer/Eva pfeiffer or Franz Carl johan Pfeiffer...their birth days are all different. The Pfeiffers were Swiss/possibly from Alsace Lorraine.
Any help or leads will help with this elusive family line.
Sheila powell

Perhaps this group can help. I have conflicting information about the parents of Julia F Pfeiffer(1862-1936)born in Fort Wayne Indiana. Julia is my Ggrandmother. Some report her parents as Joseph A Pfeiffer (1824) and Eva (Gertrude?)pfeiffer. Her obituary lists her father as John Pfeiffer (1820) Census reports back this name with a wife name of Catherine. But Julia reports on a census her mothers name was Ella Pfeiffer. Another reports her father as Franz Carl Johan Pfeiffer. The dates don't match up.
Julia married Charles C keller and moved to Nebraska then utah.
I have a very old piece of jewelry that I believe came from the Pfeiffer side...a locket with pictures from Wartburg..I don't know if this helps.Information indicates Julia's parents were from Switzerland/germany.Julia 3 siblings: John N, Millie, Henry and I think a step sister m.Louisa sister millie. This is an elusive family and any help will be appreciated.

Do you have a paper trail for Dorothy Pfeiffer? I am looking for info Dorothy A. Pfeiffer born in Nutley, Essex NJ. I have found a death certificate for her listing her mother's maiden name as Calhoun. She could be yours rather than the Dorothy In your tree. A lot of Dorothies born about the same time in NJ. The CA death gives the correct day, but the year is two years off. Her younger brother was born in 1916. Her husband appears to be named Hodgin.

Hello again!

Do you know any more about your Andreas Pfeiffer born in 1806? It's remotely possible that he was my Andreas' father. It would have made your Andreas 15 and a half when he had my Andreas--which, is not likely, but possible...

I know I'm grasping at straws, but I've been up against this brick wall with him for quite sometime.

Thanks!!

Jane

Hi Fred,
You seem to be accurate about Daniel Crambrook.
I have recently been corresponding with a lady called Carol whose husband is a Crambrook descendant.
Together Carol and I have expanded our research on the Crambrook family and I have put what I know onto my Ancestry tree. Would you like access to this to see what we have learnt?
As far as we can deduce, James Crambrook went bankrupt in 1842 and came alone to Australia (where I live). He died in 1856 according to his mother's Will but I haven't confirmed this from Aust death indexes.
Please let me know if I have anything incorrect on my Tree?
regards,
Anne H
I am descended from James, the youngest of the three brothers that I know about. Unfortunately he is the one I know the least about.

I would like to know anything that you can tell me about Daniel. My info thus far tells me he:

Was baptised on 18/3/1787 at St Mary the Virgin Church, Dover, Kent

Was working 'in the boot and shoe business' working in Deal, Kent, when he came to be living with/near Jane Butler and her sister Ann. A man called Christopher Passmore came along and came to be staying with/near Daniel. Christopher apparently converted Daniel to the Baptist faith, then took Ann as his wife. Daniel married jane and went to Maidstone, Kent to be the minister at the Baptist Bethel Chapel there, where he stayed for 19 years.

Married Jane Butler, daughter of Samuel Butler and Susannah Johnson, on 7/1/1808 at St Paul's church, Canterbury, Kent

Died 7/4/1876 in maidstone, where he is buried with Jane, who died in the first quarter of 1867.

The couple apparently did not have any children.

I would particularly like to know if I have missed anything, or if my information is not accurate.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Jane - We may be related.

Our family lived in Rotensol, Germany near Dobel for over two hundred years. We have a record of Christopher Frederich Pfeiffer, born in Rotensol in 1771, He married Maria Magdalena Waker Wacker (I didn't make that up! lol).

They had ten children: six boys and four girls.

There first sons was Gottfried Pfeiffer, born in 1799.

Our great great grandfather, George Pfeiffer, was the second son, born in 1800 in Grand Dutchy, Hessen, Germany. George Pfeiffer immigrated to Pennsylvania in 184? with his family including Addam Pfeiffer, our great grand father. They all eventualy ended up in Pittsburgh, PA.

Next, Christopher Frederich Pfeiffer was born in 1802.

Then, Andreas Pfeiffer was born in 1806.

Then, Johann Phillipp Pfeiffer was born in 1808.

The mother's don't match and the birthday of your Andreas Pfeiffer was born in 1821.

I don't know if there is a connection or not, but my ancestor, Andreas Pfeiffer is from Wangen, Goeppingen, Wuerttemberg, Germany, born 1821; died 1902 in South Dakota, U.S. His mother was Christina Bosch, his father is unknown to me at this time. Andreas came to America in 1847.

Is there a possible connection?

Jane

I'm looking 4 my biological father & his family in Pittsburgh, Pa. I don't have much info, just the last name Phifer & that its a really big family of light-skinned, light-eyed people from the Hill district. My father is between 55 & 60 years old & has green eyes & freckles. He has about 12 siblings or so. He was married around the time I was born (1982). He either was a truck driver, or worked for the city (Dept of Public Works, Waste Mgmt).I think his name is Carl, but I'm not sure. If this sounds familiar, send me an email. del.solare@gmail.com Thanks.
..
