Lucy Jane Tarr Pfouts

My grandmother was the daughter of Florence Argue. She said Florence's mother was Cora Ellen Pfouts. She told me that Cora was the daughter of Lucy Jane Tarr, however I do not know much else about the Tarrs past except Lucy Jane Tarr. The family tree I was given only starts with her. Is there anyone who knows of Lucy Jane Tarr Pfouts (1853-1903)?

Royal Pfouts was my grandfather and was a longtime Canton, Ohio dentist. His son Frederick, my father,was also a dentist in Canton. Royal was an adventurer who hunted in Alaska and was also a pillar of the community who founded many community organizations and served on the school board.

When was Ellen Pfouts Lytle born and where did the family live. I have David, b Aug 1818, and Nancy living in Paint Township, Holmes County, Wilmot,OH. I have Ellen born there about 1849. Do not know exact date.
David's father was Reuben Pfoutz Sr. b about 1777 in Pennsylvania. His wife was Ann Eagler b abt 1790.
It would be helpful to find out if any of your relatives have collected any of the previous Phouts family information. Often folks keep papers that can help verify and help others doing research. Thank you for replying to my inquiry.

Ellen Pfouts Lytle was my great grandmother. She was married to Francis Wm Lytle, their son Davy Francis Lytle was married to Ruth E. Aldridge they had 8 children; Marilyn, Ellen, Joyce, Glenn, Norman, Bernice,Nancy and Clara. Glenn Davy Lytle was my father. I have 6 brothers and sisters. Jeanne, Deborah, Timothy, Marilyn, Davy, Roger and Portia. I do not know alot about the Phouts side of the family, Debby(Lytle)Schrock

I only show Hannah as dtr of John Daniel. I don't have her siblings. But here is what I have for Leonard.
His brothers and sisters: Joseph [no dates], John Daniel [11 Mar 1743-abt 1802], Theobald David, Jr. [abt 1745-Oct 1831], Jacob [1747-20 May 1829], Andrew [abt 1749-?], dtr [abt 1751-1779], Mary [abt 1753-?], John Leonard [1755-abt 1814], Mary [abt 1759-1787], Ludwig Lewis [1761-1840], dtr [abt 1753-?], Peter [10 Nov 1766-?], Barbara [abt 1769-1792], Hannah [11 Jul 1771-11 Nov 1855].

John Leonard m. Catherine Shearer. Their children: Solomon [no dates], Elizabeth [1776-Apr 1860], Joseph [1778-?], Mary [2 Jul 1779-7 Oct 1866], George [abt 1780-?], John Martin [7 Sep 1781-19 Feb 1845], John Leonard [1783-Mar 1850], Jacob [1786-?], Nancy [1799-?], John Peter [15 Aug 1808-29 May 1878].

As you can see, they loved the same names and used them over and over!

I have the names of spouses of most of John Leonard's siblings, but children of few. I got the information from a cousin who had done most of the research for this line and he pretty much focused on our direct line. I've been trying to fill in the blanks. After he died all his records were donated to a library in Bienville Parish, LA.

According to the Fouts newsletter, July 1982, John Fouts in the Rowan Co. recors and John Leonard Fouts are the same.

Do these sound like your people? If you have any info on any of them, I'd love to have it. I have a lot of miscellaneous notes about most of these people as well.

My 6th great grandfather was a Theobald DeWalt [David] Fouts m. Catherine Spengell. Their son, John Leonard, m. Catherine Shearer. John and Catherine's son, John Martin, was the father of my ggg grandmother, Maria Theresa m. Criswell Whitlow. Criswell's daughter, Amanda, married John Jackson Dyess, my gg grandfather.

John Martin Fouts died in LA where the Fouts and Whitlow families [and numerous children] lived and died until Amanda came to TX.

have Leonard Crane Pfouts born 1774 (probably Cumberland County) PA, son of John "Baron" Pfouts and Anna Maria Klein. John "Baron" Pfouts was the son of Hans Michael Pfouts.

THE NEW WASHINGTON COURIER, New Washington, Indiana pusblished by John S. Smith. Mr. Smith's first paper was called THE BETHLEHEM POST, Bethlehem, Indiana, he then relocated to Marble Hill, Indiana and renamed it THE MARBLE HILL ERA, later to relocate to New Washington, Indiana and renaming it THE NEW WASHINGTON COURIER. Mr Smith excelled in reporting the news. He covered the news until about 1940 when he retired due to age and health.

Hello, This is my ancestrial line also. I am the granddaughter of Mary Bertha Fouts Jones, who was the daughter of Samuel and Sophia Fouts. I have done quite a bit of work on the Van Dalsem branch, but have not gone too far on the Fouts side. I am interested in any information that you have.

re. parents of Catherine m. John Eckert: I think you will find her parents were Jacob Pfautz (Im before 1730 and Anna Magdalena (probably Kuntz), and that she was the 6th recorded child b. 1740.

I don't find this Catherine or her husband in the family tree of Hans Michael Pfautz, b 1682 and Ursula Muelhlenhauser, b 1682 - Rohrback,Germany. There are several other Pfautz families that immigrated to PA in the 1700s. Perhaps she was connected to one of them.

Catherine Pfoutz( was my grandmother to the seventh power) b. 1740 married John Eckert, Sr.in 1763 and I believe her father was Michael and mother was Catherine. John Eckert, Sr.was born 1734 d.1811.

My Eckert family came to Philadelphia in 1731 from Germany and settled in Pennsylvania.

Pfouts of Oregon

Hi. I am looking for any information on Pfouts in Oregon. My Great Grandmother was Maxine Davis. She was adopted by the Davis family in 1912. Her father was George Benton Beeney, who was married to a woman named Gladys. When Maxine grew up, she wrote a letter in the Oregon Journal telling how she was looking for her biological parents. Gladys Pfouts answered the letter. She was remarried at that point and had some other children as well. Maxine met her mother, and I have a photo.

I do not know anything about Gladys Pfouts. I don't even know who she married. If any one is a Pfouts out there and you had a grandmother or great-grandmother named Gladys and she lived in Oregon, could you please email me at wlkernan@hotmail.com. I have a photo of her, and I will let you see it to see if this is your Gladys Pfouts.

Fred Fouts is my grandfather. He first was married to Gladys Mae Nolte. They had four children. My father was one of them. Then, they divorced and he married a Hazel(last name unknown). They had one child, Daphen Palmetta Fouts. I have never met met her. She is my 1/2 aunt. Her father passed away some years ago, her brother, and one sister.
