My Philip ancestress married Abram Hardick before prior to 1835. She was Eliza Catherine Philip, of Columbia Co, NY. I managed a few generations before her but some is guesswork, since info gets thinner and thinner as you go back to the 18th century. I'd be happy to send a longer file if it's of interest, with more detail of censuses, gravestones etc. I'm attaching a short gedcom file which covers the Philips I have.
I would love to hear from you and to exchange info.
My address is deke.buckie@rogers.com

Dear Michelle,
My maiden name is Philip and my father's family are originally from Panbride. I have my family tree set up on Genesreunited.co.uk. My dad was named Colin James Gellatly Philip (due to incorrect spelling on his father's birth cert)and he was so named after his Grandfather James G Phillip born in Panbride about 1888. Hopefully the information myself and my cousin have between us will assist you, I think Claire has researched back to the 1700s.

Michelle,
Hi its good to make contact again, its only a fluke that I came to this web site at all and saw the messages between you and Lynda. Your GG and my GG were brothers. William married Caroline Lennie and had 9 children all of whom were born in Liverpool. They came to nz in 1879. One of the brothers Charles was already in nz. One of Williams sisters came to nz as well but i am unable to find out which one or who she married before she came to nz. I have got all the details if you want them. One of my Grandfathers brothers is missing from my list as well his name is Arthur as well.

I'm reaching back now, and don't have my notes available, but I believe that Eliza Catherine Philip was related to Dilaway Philip (his wife was, as I recall, Catherine). If so, some of his papers have been put on the web at http://www.berkshire.net/OnlineArchives/columbia/philndx.htm - I picked these papers up at an auction many years ago and transcribed many of them. He had a part in building the Second Reformed Church, which was I believe in West Ghent.

I am hoping someone can help me. I am related to Thomas Boice (1790) and Patience Province. He is the son of Thomas Bice and Edith Applegate. When I begin to work the line back, there is agreement among researchers with next Frances Boyce and Hanna Phillips until I come to next Johannes Buys and Neetje Claase. One group says next is Andrian Buijs (1650) and Tryntje Hendricks Oosteroom and the next generations Aret Pietersen.

Other researchers say that Johannes Buys was the son of Jan Thyssen Buys and Jannetje Vandenham and that Johannes was married to Neeltje Claaze De Graaf and she was the daughter of Claus Andriese De Graff and Elizabeth Willemse Brouwer.

The lines fork at this point and researchers go in two different directions.

Could anyone help me to sort this out? I have not been working on the line very long. Is there any proof? Any resources I could use to assist me. Clues of where to begin? I would appreciate some leads and it could save me years of searching. I would be very grateful. Thanks, Claudia Riley. claudiarriley@msn.com

PHILIP / PHILLIP in Hampshire

My great-grandfather was Charles Robert PHILP of Scotland (b c1852). He changed his name to PHILIP and possibly moved to London. He had 8 children by his first wife (name unknown): Nellie, Charles, Jack, Bertha, Dick, Louise, Thomas & Maggie. At some point in the 1880's they moved to Hampshire.

Then married my great-grandmother - Janet KELLY around 1895 in Winchester and changed his name again to PHILLIP. They had 7 children: Olive, Hilda, Bess, Janet, Mildred, Doug and Bob.

I know Bertha and Dick ended up in Canada via Dr Barnado's.

Can anyone help me on either Charles PHILIP, his children, or Janet KELLY (b c1870, orphan from London)?
PHILIP family from Kincardineshire/Aberdeenshire

Looking for any info/connections to the Philip family who appear to of originated in Nigg, Kincardine, Scotland. I believe that William Philip married Margaret Milne in 1763 & there began the Philip family.
Their son George Philip was born in Aberdeenshire 1772, married Elizabeth Low 1795. had 11 children.
One son, george married Elizabeth Morgan (from Alloa, Clackmannan) in 1834. Had 8 children.
It appears that most of the family were born & stayed in Aberdeenshire.
George Philip & Elis. Morgan's 2nd child Elizabeth Low Philip had a child named George Urquhart/Philip in 1857. According to the birth registration Elizabeth was never married to the father of George (Findlay Urquhart) & George was registered under Urquhart. But according to all records I have seen he only went by PHILIP.
I'd love any further info on this PHILIP family or any connecting branches.
thanks
