I recently purchased an old photo showing two young boys. On the back of the photo is written "George Phillipy and Elmer Trotter". George is the boy on the right. The photo was purchased along with other photos from Indiana. There are no other markings on this photos. I would guess that this photo was likely taken around 1900.

If this is one of your ancestors please contact me.

I apologize, Robert Mickey Phillippi's father was not Martin Phillippi - he was Robert's grandfather. The father of Robert was Joseph Phillippi, one of eleven children by Martin and Elizabeth Ankney Phillippi. Joseph was born July 4, 1818, and according to information submitted to the FamilySearch website, was a twin brother to Martin Phillippi Jr. Joseph died on 05/11/1873. HIs wife was Margaret Mickey, born 09/30/1818, died on 02/26/1887.

Marlene, Robert Mickey Phillppi was my great great grandfather. His parents, according to the FamilySearch website, were Martin Phillippi, born 12-25-1771 in Bedford PA and Elizabeth Ankney, b. 11-28-1779. The pedigree chart does show that Martin's grandfather was Johannes Phillippi, b. 1665 in Volksberg, Alsace France, and married Anna Regina Lorentz about 1684. I have not done any research on my own past Robert M. Phillippi's generation, so I can't attest for the accuracy. Hope this helps you a little more.

Phillippi family

No doubt I have corresponded with some of you. It would just be interesting to find people closer in relation. My John [Johannes]Phillippi married Eva Barbara Eichelberger in Lancaster Co. PA in 1758. One of their daughters was Maria Margaretta [Margaret] and she married Henry Baugh [Bach] in 1786 in Va.

I believe as some others do, that they probably originated in Alsace area and that piece of land went back and forth between France and Germany. Could be one reason they left. I have some info where Johannes' father married his wife, Anna Regina Lorentz in Volksberg, Alsace Germany [France] So confusing. Also they were listed by this person [my source] [Clifford R. Canfield] as "My German [Swiss/French] Ancestors VI"

This branch [Margaret Phillippi married Henry Baugh] migrated to Pulaski Co., Ky. Just about all of the family were related to this man and woman.
However I found a Robert M. Phillippi b. 1848 in Pa and died in 1920 Pulaski Co., Ky. He married a Mary Durham. Does anyone know who his parents were?
Marlene

Hi Karen... Katherine was a daughter of Wendelin PHILLIPPI and Magdalena STOLLE. My data show that their first five children--Peter, Elizabeth, Catherina, Magdalana "Lana", and Jacob were born in Germany, Alsace, or France (depending on the source). Jacob was born about 1842; the next youngest sibling, Mary Ann, was born in 1845 in Ohio (likely Morges, Carroll Co.).

From this, I gather that the Wendelin PHILLIPPI family had settled in Ohio by 1845, which would mean that Sabus and Katherine would have to have been married in Ohio. Also, since the PHILLIPPIs were members of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Morges, and because I know I've seen records of DIERINGERs there, I would guess they had been married in that parish. Robert Lynn Shimek's transcriptions of St. Mary's records include baptisms for the three sons of Sabus and Katherine that I know about: Emmanuel Peter, Jacob Constantine, and Anthoney Joseph.

You mentioned 11 siblings. I know of 14, the last being David born abt 1867. Do you have info on him and his wife, Susan. He is the only great uncle that my mom remembered. I would also like to have more detailed into about each sibling - spouses and children's names. I know that their parents were Frederick and Christina Robb. And that his father was Adam Phillippy. I do not have Frederick's mother name. And I am not certain of his siblings. Please let me know if you have any of this info. Thanks!

She didn't know the correct spelling of the last name. Susana married my great grandfather, Reinhard (Reiner) Esser in Cross Plains, WI. before 1866 because my grandfather, Peter was born there in Dec, 1866. Reiner was also born in Germany, but they arrived in the U.S. at different times. I have been unable to find any information about Phillipes in that area around that time.
One of the problems of searching for people in this family is that different branches of the family have ended up with different spellings. On the Internet, you'll find the name spelled PHILLIPPI, PHILLIPI, PHILIPPI, PHILIPI, and even PHILIP and PHILIPS, believe it or not. So, especially at Ancestry, you'll have to search all those spellings, or use the SOUNDEX option, which will get lots of "hits" which are not at all relevent.

George

**********QUOTED TEXT**********
Dean, I don't know if you are still available because your message was posted in 2000 but if you are, I was wondering how you pronounce the Phillippe name spelled with an e at the end.
