Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother
Edna L. Slee Shelby Phillips, 91,
a resident of the Erie area since 1960, entered her eternal rest peacefully on Sunday morning June 29, 2008 at her residence.
She was born in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada on May 7, 1917 a daughter of the late James and Eliza Slee.
Edna worked at Sears and was a "caller" for the Sears Retiree lunch group.
She enjoyed gardening, bowling, reading,
watching sports on TV, and playing cards with her family. Survivors include two sons, Paul Shelby of Kings Mountain, N.C.
and James Phillips and his wife Julie of Erie;
two daughters, Katherine Berry of North Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Sandra Phillips of Erie.
Edna leaves grandchildren David and Christine Shelby,
Amos and Aaron Berry,
Jeannette Phillips,
Jill Torrence,
and Jessica Trimer.
She is also survived by great grandchildren Brandon, Brianna, Charles, Dustin, Amber, Erin, Lilly, and Caydence. She was preceded in death by her husband Mace Phillips in 1952
and a daughter Mary Shelby.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, 5000 Wattsburg Road, Erie, corner of East Gore Rd. and Pine Ave., Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to services there on Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Msgr. L. Thomas Snyderwine, Pastor of St. Luke Catholic Church. Entombment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army Center, 1022 Liberty St., Erie, 16502 or Great Lakes Hospice, 1700 Peach St., Erie, 16501.
