I have recently discovered that our Phillips ancestry goes back to a wealthy merchant called John Phillips who resided at Stobcross House near Glasgow between 1780 and his death in 1830. I also believe that he may have originally come from Kent.
John had 2 sons (who were also merchants in Glasgow) and 6 daughters who married into the Coldstream, Rowan, Reed (my line), Rae Wilson and Smith families in the Glasgow area.
As I have now hit numerous brick walls, I am keen to find others who might be researching these lines.
