TRUMAN Phinney
Truman “Warren” Phinney, 88, left for his new life in heaven early in the morning on March 1, 2008. Warren was born on June 24, 1919 in San Bernardino. He married Marian McGuire, his high school sweetheart, in 1937. They were married 64 years.
He was a World War II veteran, having served in the South Pacific in the United States Army Air Force. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad in San Bernardino before and after the war.
Warren brought his family to the High Desert in 1955 when he purchased a grocery store and gas station in Oro Grande on Highway 66, the Motor Inn. He started an independent trucking business as a wholesale distributor, taking supplies to Baker and the Death Valley area in the 1960’s. From 1968 until his retirement, he owned the Bar S Liquor Store in Victorville.
He had a wonderful retirement with his wife Marian. They loved to golf and were involved in the Green Tree Golf Club. They traveled all over the world. They loved traveling in their motor home while being members of the Rolling Wheels Camping Club.
