My maiden name was Salopek which is one of the names listed on the back of you photo. The name is Croatian. My Salopek ancestors came from Ogulin in Croatia, but I believe there is also another branch of Salopeks from elsewhere in Croatia. According to my grandmother, the name means "lard baker". Hope this helps.

My father's name was John Parks (Piasecki), and he had two brothers, one of which lived in Battle Creek, Michigan. Their mother's name (our grandmother) was Sophie (Raskowski - not sure of the spelling of her maiden name at this time). My father was the youngest of three boys - Leo, Stanley, John. I am very interested in finding any family information available, all contacts that we knew of are now deceased. All I know of is that the three boys were left in their Aunt Mary's care, were taken by Social Services, and became foster children. This Aunt Mary had two daughters, Emily and Sophie. Their is more to their story, but I'd like to find out if we are related before I reveal any more. Please contact me at the above e-mail address or my sister MaryLou @ mary213nc@hotmail.com. Thank you!

There was an Aunt Mary, Sophie and Walt Stanny, (their sons Richard and Skippy (I think his name is really Walter) Emilie and Al Adamski. Are you John was your father? Hmmm...he was mine also. The only siblings I knew of was my sister MaryLou and my brother John. My father did change his last name to Parks. Please contact me immediately! Jayne146@rochester.rr.com

Craig! I was shocked when I read the information you had posted at this site. I know very little about my father's family. What I do know is that my grandparents names were Joseph and Sophia Piasecki and they had three sons, Leo, Stanley and John. John was my father. Stanley lived in Michigan, but my father never could find Leo. My grandmother died when my father was very little, and their Aunt Mary (who lived here in Rochester) took care of them for a short time. All I know about Grandfather Joseph is that he disappeared for about twenty years. Our family information seems to be very close indeed! Please contact me at: jayne146@rochester.rr.com

As far as your GG parents sons names, they match to my father who's passed and his brothers- the birth years are the part that do not match- my father was born 1918. I know his brother Stanley lived and passed away in Mich. leaving a widow and 2 children (I believe). My father changed his last name to no longer be a Piasecki at a young age and kept us from knowing his family history- all we have is his death certificate saying father as Joseph Piasecki and mother as Sophie Rutkowski. Any helpful info???

I am not aware of a brother or relative named Josef, but Delores sounds vaguely familiar. I will investigate. Do you think there could be a link?

Hi,
My GGM was named Piasecki and she is listed in the 1900 New York Census as having been married to my GGF, Frank Kuznicki and their children are listed as Stanley, John and Leon. Piasecki was born in 1871, Kuznicki in 1868. The three boys are listed as being born in 1892, 1894 and 1900. You state that the boys in your message had a Mom named Sophia Piasecki who died. They were placed in foster homes? I wonder if my GGM Piasecki was related to Sophia and if my GGM took over the care of the three boys when Sophia died. Any possibility that this might be so? Thanks.
Lori

Mary,
Hi! I have a copy of the 1900 Federal Census of New York which lists a John, a Stanley and a Leo as children living with Frank (Francis) and Stanislawa (Stella) Kuznicki, who were my great grandparents!.....Stella's maiden name was Piasecki. They were from the Buffalo, NY area! John, Leo and Stanley would be my great, great? uncles! Frank and Stella went on to have more children, one of them becoming my grandfather, James B. Kuznicki, born much later than John, Stanley and Leon. They also had a daughter named Wladislawa ("Lottie") and they had more after that! I am wondering if John and Stanley and Leo (Listed as "Leon" in 1900 Federal Census of New York, but went by Leo) are the same ones from your family! You state that John is your Dad? Was he born in 1894? Was Leon the oldest, then John, and then Stanley? They went by the last name Kuznicki though, I am quite sure....Stella was a "Piasecki" and Frank was a "Kuznicki." Your email is from 2000, so I hope you still receive this email after all of this time. Please email me if you think our info is extremely similar. Please read the message from Craig too. It mentions the same names, parents and places!! Thank you! Sure hope this reaches you. Oh, the Federal Census is District #17, Enumeration District #18 (but could be #13, since the copy I have is faint) and the Sheet # is 25. Hope this is a match!!! Toodles for now!
Lori

HI Craig,
My great grandmother's name was Stanislawa (Stella) Piasecki and she married a Frank "Francis" Kuznicki. It is listed in the 1900 "12th Census Of the United States" that the couple had living with them a Leon, John and Stanley "Stanislaw", and they are listed as their sons, born in 1892 (Leon), 1894 (John) and May of 1900 (Stanislaw). There is a lot of similar info between you and I. Did Joseph perhaps have a sister by the name of Stella (Stanislawa?) My great grandparents mentioned above are from Poland, Russia, etc. They went on to have other children too, one being my grandfather, James B. Kuznicki. They also had a daughter name Wladislawa (?) "Lottie" and had more kids too. But the 1900 census only lists the three boys mentioned above and Wladislawa. All of the other kids, including my grandfather, were born after 1900 and are therefore not listed in the census. I wonder if Frank and Stella adopted Leon, Stanley and John?? And here is the last coincidence "coinky-dinky" as I call it, my entire family is from Buffalo New York. My grandfather, James B. Kuznicki, was born in Buffalo New York and died in Buffalo, New York. My Dad, James Joseph Kuznicki grew up in Buffalo, New York! So, ask your family memebers if any of this rings a bell! Too may coinky-dinkys! I really wonder if "your" Joseph and "My" Stanilawa (Stella) were related.....And remember, her last name was Piasecki. Please email me back, OK? Oh, the 1900 census from Erie County, New York is District #17, Enumeration district #18 (or possibly 13) (The copy I have is very hard to read, I am sorry for that) and the Sheet number is #25. It was done on June 11, 1900. Hope to hear from you soon.
Lori

My mother communicated with Fred and Rose for many years but then stopped for some reason. Can you send me the photo and any further info? Would appreciate it. You can send it to azemailguard-bill at yahoo.com.
I have Carolina spelled Karolina, but may be wrong about that spelling. I have some info that she died in 1939, but am still sorting things out, as well. Her husband's name is unknown to my mother, as well. Let me know if you find out.
Also, Karolina's son Walter Piasecka(i) was married to Josephine Pladzinska - do you have any information on her??? I cannot find anything on her.
Also, ask you husband if he knows the Shelley's. He should, as they were the offspring of Anna and Wadzia Shubert. Wadzia never came over to the USA...he stayed in Poland.
Please let me know...Bill

Re: PIASECKI brothers, Frank and Casimir

My great-grandmother's maiden name was Anna Piasecki. She was married in Schubin (or Szubin today) to Michal Witucki. He apparently came to the States around 1890, settling in Chicago in St. Adalbert's Parish on the southwest side. Then he sent for Anna and my grandfather, Wladyslaw (Walter) who was five years old. They came in July of 1892 on the Kaiser Wilhelm II. Their immigration record is availbale on the Ellis Island website. I think they arrived on July 8th.

I visited Szubin about 25 years ago and went to Gniezno to search the church records a little - the church in Szubin had sent its records to the archives in Gniezno. I didn't get too far because my Polish was bad then and I was not able to explain my interests at the time. This was in the communist days and maybe they were not too trusting or something. Plus interest in genealogy may not have been too popular over there at the time. I was only able to find out that Anna's maiden name was Piasecki. I'm ready to go back and check out the situation a little better.
Do you have any information to share with me? If your Frank and Casimir aren't Anna's brothers, they are probably related somehow. Anna died in 1916 or 1917. She and Michal are buried at St. Adalbert's Cemetery just outside Chicago.
Thanks.

Len Witucki
STANLEY PIASECKI, Battle Creek, MI

Hi Jayne,

I don't know much about the Piaseckis in the US. The wedding list I have doesn't identify which side of the family guests were from, so here's the list, minus the names that are definitely from the other side of the family:
Poprocky (misspelled?), Pilakowski, Armiak (misspelled), Pasek, Romanski, Pawlak, (Sophie) Kazmierkowski, Niemiec, Piasecki in Battle Creek (will provide old address if you confirm that we're talking about the same Piasecki branch; Narowski; Narkiewicz; Arazy; Roberts; Stanny, Adamski; Bilak. I do have information about where in Poland if your Stanley is related. Possibly Stanley is the son of a male Piasecki who immigrated? Maybe a brother of my grandmother or cousin? Do you know the name of the brothers' father? Do you have baptismal or naturalization information on him? Thanks for your quick reply. My grandmother died before I was born & her children are dead. I am using what we have in the family to find more. Peace, Anne

fran- I unfortunately I can't help with your family questions; but perhaps you can help me? My name is Joni Trobich, and my husband's father had a friend, and I am told probably a relative named Joe? Seserko. Both men are from Philadelphia, and the Seserko family apparently now lives near the shore in NJ. Does the name Trobich ring any bells with you or your family?
Yes, that is the correct line. Rose and Fred were my husband, John Frederick Jr.'s, parents. Do you know Hilda's father's name? I have a picture of a headstone for her mother, Carolina, that says she died in 1932.

Sandy
