Hi Julie,
My Dad has had a look at my Mum's family tree and unfortunately there aren't any clues on there regarding Albert's middle names. I have done a bit of research into Percy James and found that he was killed in November 1915 in France. I have shown below a summary of what I found and hope it is is of some interest,
Kind Regards,
Jim.

Percy James Pibworth Pvte 3628 1st London Regiment(Royal Fusiliers)

8th Division 25th Brigade

Killed in Action France 7/11/1915

The diary of the 1st London Regiment(Royal Fusiliers) records that for the period 1st - 4th November they were allocated as the Divisional reserve force.
On 5th November they were ordered to relieve the 7th Middlesex Regiment in the trenches and billets at FLEURBAIX. A & C companies went into the trenches. Capt R B G Glover is reported killed by a Sniper.
The Sniper obviously had the trench in range as on the 6th and 7th November the diary entry reads “A quite day. 1 man killed.” So we can assume that Percy was the casualty listed on the 7th and was most likely killed by the same sniper.

Percy is burried in Y FARM MILITARY CEMETERY, BOIS-GRENIER row M plot 14.

Hi Julie, Thanks for the offer but I'm not really into the family tree research. I am currently researching a couple of great Uncles from my fathers side who died in the first WW. I have raised your question with my oldest surving relative on my mums side and unfortunately she doesn't know she said she just knew him as Uncle Bert although she took a guess that those names may be from his mothers side. I have one more avenue to explore which is my mums family tree to see if there are any clues on that. I'll let you know when I've had a look there.
Kind Regards,
Jim.

Hi Jim, I have the Alberts in my tree and am imterested to find out if you know why Albert Junior (married to Ann Perfect) had the middle names Raltoner Halton. Any idea? Also, I have done a massive amount of research on the Pibworth name and am willing to share my tree if you have the software to receive it. If so, let me know. I have a couple of cuttings about Flying Scotsman Albert too.

Julie Pibworth

Hi, I see this is a really old thread but I was looking up information about Albert Pibworth(Flying Scottsman) and came across it. Hopefully I can fill in a gap for you if you havent managed to already. Albert Pibworths son Albert married a lady called Ann Perfect who had a sister called Maisie Cooke(nee Perfect) who was my grandmother. I knew Ann as Auntie Ann for some years in the 60 and 70s and can confirm that she had no children.
I may be able to provide moreinformation on the Cooke line if anybody is interested.

Hi
I was looking up stuff about the Flying Scotsman and noticed the name Pibworth, he was one of the first drivers to drive the train from London to Edinburgh non stop. He was my great aunts brother in law. My great aunt was called Ann but I will have to find out her husbands name. Will get back to you later.
Linda

Grandfather a James of Bristol and his father, I think, a Charles Pibworth.
Hi Martin, thanks for replying. It's great to hear from another branch of the family! I have been researching the Pibworths for about a year now and I already have an enormous Pibworth tree - and if you can give me some names and dates for your father, grandfather, great grandfather etc I may be able to link you up straight away. I can also send you a gedcom file of my tree if you have a family history programme to read it on - send your email address if this would be of use to you. My address is j_pibworth@hotmail.com if you'd like to get in touch direct.
I'm living near Salisbury, England nowadays. My dad was Harold, his dad Archibald, his dad George, his dad also George, etc. I can go back to the 1600's! I am now on a mission to join up all the Pibworths who ever existed in one tree - it is such an unusual name that I think it would be possible!
Hope to hear from you again soon,
Julie

I was very interested to hear about the Flying Scotsman. My parents have an 'old boys' or mecano magazine (can't remember which, as it is the loft) with a picture showing driver A Pibworth.

My photocopy of the page says "our photograph shows Driver A Pibworth and fireman Mutton standing by the side of "Flying Fox" at Kings Cross. Driver Pibworth is giving the final touches with the oilcan before the famous train starts on its long run.". The page at www.flyingscotsman.com/feature.html had some info, but this page seems to have been taken off.

regards
Alan Pibworth, Bedford UK, great grandson of George William Pibworth, Potton, Beds, born in Easton, Hamp. 1848
