Two KIERNAN brothers appear to be living side by side on the 1881 Pilkington Census, and Alice KIERNAN is a member of the second family.

The 1881 Pilkington Census reads:

Thomas KIERNAN, Head, 67 yrs. Farm Labourer born Seltrane (sp?), Ireland.
Susan Wife 64 yrs. born Longford, Ireland.
Thomas Son 32 yrs. Unmarried, Farm Labouorer, born Whitefield, Lancashire.
William Son 28 yrs. Married, Farm Labourer born Whitefield, Lancashire.
All the above reside at 14 Hindley Street, Pilkington.


William KIERNAN, Head 75 yrs. Farm Labourer born Ireland
Mary Wife 50 yrs. born Ireland
Michael Son 16 yrs. Farm Labourer born Pilkington, Lancs.
ALICE DAUGHTER 21 YRS. COTTON WEAVER BORN Pilkington, LANCS.
Emma Daughter 19 yrs. "Cotton Operative" born Pilkington, Lancs.
John Griffin Boarder 24 yrs. Farm Labourer born Ireland
All of this family live at 19 Hindley Street, Pilkington.

Am trying to trace this Pickup family and Alice's KIERNAN family. Would appreciate any information.
