My name is Rogelio Piedra, I live in Ohio and I was born in California. My father was also Rogelio Piedra and he came from Havana, Cuba. I was not aware of any french roots of the name Piedra, however, I was aware of the connection of the name to Cuba and spain. How can we get some more information. Any ideas? Hi, Leticia my name is Patricia Piedra and I am not of cuban heritage. i am hispanic yes but I was born in Texas and it is believed through stories of our great grandfather that we are of french heritage with our last name being Pierre but was changed due to the fact that back in the early 1800's there was only Mexicans and white americans therefoere the name was changed to Piedra so that mexicans could prononce our last name since Pierre means rock in spanish.

If by any chance your great grandfather was also Tomas Piedra and his wifes name was Jesusa let me know we are related and I have a story about my great grandfather that I can share with you. I was looking for people with the Piedra last name from Mexico. My grandfather's name was Patricio Piedra. He lived in Colonia Progreso near Rio Grande Zacatecas. I didn't realise a lot of the Piedras are from Cuba.

I saw your posting on the Cuban Genealogy website. I am also a Piedra from Cuban descent. My father was born here just after my grandparents arrived from Cuba to Miami, FL. There were Joaquin and Mercedes Piedra. My great grandfather lived in Cuban having come from Las Palmas, Canary Islands which is right off of Spain.

How far back have you've been able to go in your heritage search?

Wow this is a real coincedence. I just decided to run a search of my name in google and I came across this. I live in Houston and don't know much about my father's side of the family. His name is Cosme. I never thought there was much more to that I guess I was wrong.

My name is Patricia Piedra I live in Brownfield, Tx. It's so funny becacuse here I am looking to see if by chance I find some relatives on my fathers side that I do not know about, and I come across a message from someone that I don't even know yet has the same name of a brother I once had. My father and mother had 13 children and one of my brothers name was Roberto. He passed away back in May of 1978. My father was from Charlotte< Texas his name was Epifanio Piedra, His fathers name was Ysidro Piedra. My father and mother whos name is Juanita had 13 children only 10 of us lived 1 died at age 13. If there is a chace that we are related I would like to know, I now have 6 children of own and I would really like my children to know other family members. Thank you.

I was really intriged when I came across this web page, and suprised to learn that most of the PIEDRA's here are from the Cuban Heritage. I have always thought that the PIEDRA name was Indiana and came from Mexico.

My wifes name is Catalina (Abete is her maiden name)and we have 4 children 3 girls and 1 boy. Fidelia, Rachael, Linda and Jaime. Linda and Jaime both live in San Antonio, Fidelia lives in the South Plains in Amherst Tx, Rachael lives in Kerrville also.
