Looking for the marriage of Joseph Pigeon & Rose Gervais circa 1920 possibly in Pontiac County of Quebec Province.

Daughter Rita Marguerite Pigeon wed Lorne O'Donnell in 1954 Sept 6 at Grand Calumet Ste-Anne Church.

Parents for Joseph Pigeon are needed.

his mother was Laura Pigeon who married Telesphore Lalonde.

Laura's father was George Pigeon and he married twice, to Rosa Durocher and then her sister later in life, Josephine Durocher.

You seem to have lots on the Pigeon family.

I am researching for a senior uncle to trace his roots,

He is Lucien Lalonde from Cornwall, Ontario.

His mother was Laura Pigeon who married Telesphore Lalonde.

Laura's father was Georges Pigeon who married twice, to Rosa Durocher, and then her sister Josephine Durocher.

Georges married in Sainte-Ignace, Vaudreuil/ Soulange/ Coteau-du-lac district.

I am stuck at Georges father, Jean-Baptiste Pigeon who married Emilie Veronneau dit Denis.

i noticed the name Pigeon, and wonder if you might have information on Pigeons at all.

I seek the bloodline of George Pigeon, who is listed in a 1901 census (Soulanges district, Sainte-Ignace sub-district).

He married twice, First to Rose Durocher, ..

Any help would be great.

I am doing this for an aging uncle, Lucien Lalonde.

I also have a great deal of information on the Pigeon family.

You are correct that Peter was the son of Zeno (Zenon) Pigeon, who was married to Marie Josephe Virginie (Virginia) Veckman (or sometimes spelled Vickman or even Wickman). Peter and Agnes' grave is located in Allouez Cemetery - I have a photo of it if you'd like.

Zeno was the son of Pierre (Peter) Pigeon who was the original Pigeon to emigrate from Belgium (near Archennes and Grez Doiceau in the Brabant Wallon Province). Pierre was married to Anne-Marie Martin (who was also from near Grez Doiceau). I have a PDF copy of the deed to the land Pierre purchased in the Town of Humboldt, which was purchased in 1858. I also have a copy of Anne-Marie's gravestone (as well as Zeno's), which are both located in the St. Killian Cemetery in Scott Township, Brown County, Wisconsin.

Pierre was the son of Andre Pigeon and Antoinette Flemal. Both died and were buried in Belgium, presumably in the Archennes area. I was in Belgium in 2004 and had an opportunity to quickly look for their graves, but was unable to find them.

Andre is the son of Francois Pigeon and Marie-Anne Lurquin. Again, they are presumably buried in the Archennes/Grez Doiceau area of the Brabant Wallon province in Belgium.

I can provide more information if anyone is interested. Just let me know.

Are there any indications that the photo was taken in either Montreal, Quebec, Canada or Manchester, New Hampshire, USA?

What were your grandfather's dates and roughly when did they arrive in Michigan, do you know? Some of my Pigeon family tree were in Crystal Lake, Benzie, Michigan in the 1870s and 1880s before moving on to Chicago and Wisconsin, respectively, but that's the lower pennisula. They emigrated from Canada in 1865.

I am doing genealogical research on my family. My grandfather was Walter Pigeon and my grandmother was Marie or Maria (not sure which). They settled somewhere on the upper michigan peninsula. I found Pigeon on the Native American rolls in that area, which is interesting. I would love to know any and all information about how Pigeon became Pidgeon and any information at all, especially if there is any connection to the Pigeons in Upper Michigan peninsula. Please let me know!

Hi Joe,

My mom (Alice) moved to California when she was 4 or 5 years old. She's the youngest daughter of Owen and Rose Kelly.

I've only recently started researching, but my mom told me that her grandfather changed his last name from Pedley to Kelly. Why would he have needed to change it?

Also, do you have any more information on Adolph Pigeon's service record in the Civil War? I found a website with the muster rolls for the Michigan Regiments, but didn't see him listed.

Firmin Pigeon

Hi Renee - thanks for your note but sorry to say I can't help. I had seen your earlier note on Firmin Pigeon and I think you even mentioned Roxton Pond unless I am getting my messages mixed up. In any event I have searched thoroughly to try to make a connection between my tree and Firmin's but no luck and no connections found. There were two main branches of the Pigeon tree in the Montreal area of Quebec. The first (and seemingly most prolific) was that of Pierre Pigeon (d. 1678) and a second Pigeon immigrant who arrived in the Montreal area about 1730 or so. This latter immigrant settled in the South Shore area (i.e. across the St Lawrence River from Montreal) and started a new tree. In the early years (probably up to about 1800 or so) most Pigeon descendants in the South Shore area and Eastern Townships tended to trace their roots back to this source, whereas those from the East end of Montreal such as Pointe aux Trembles, Sault au Recollet, etc were descended from Pierre Pigeon (d.1678).
It seems it was only in the later years (post 1800s) that the original Pigeon line began to move into the Eastern Townships of the Montreal area and elsewhere and the lines between the two families became blurred. All this to say that Firmin Pigeon may have been descended from the South Shore clan rather than the Pointe aux Trembles/Sault aux Recollets line. I'll keep looking for you as I fill in the blanks.

Frank, in an earlier message you said you had Pigeon records to about 1830. The earliest confirmed information I have in tracing my PIgeon ancestors is the following marriage:

Firmin Pigeon married 2.10.1854 Montréal to Emilie Gougeon
Firmin parents : Basile-Marguerite Cousineau
Emilie parents : Jean-Elisabeth Hurtubise

Do your records show a Basile PIgeon-Marguerite Cousineau marriage? I am assuming this Montreal Pigeon line probably traces back to Pierre Pigeon.

According to the marriage certificate of Peter Joseph Pigeon & Anna Agnes Simons, Peter's parents were Zeno Pigeon and Virginia Vukman. Since I am researching the Simons line, I really don't know any more about the Pigeons. I do have information on Peter & Anna's children, etc. if you need it. E-mail me if you are interested.

I also descend from this Pigeon line. Instead of in your case... Amable Pigeon, I come from Amable's brother Paul "Napoleon" Pigeon who married Amelie Baril. Will be glad to share info with you in case you don't have any on Paul.

Do you have any information on the deaths of Joseph Pigeon and Charlotte Normandeau Amable and Paul's parents? (when and where)

Also do you know when and where Amable Pigeon and his wife Marcelline died?

I have found new data on my great great grandmother, Sarah Pigeon. She was born in Ireland, not in Missouri as I had previously posted. After some research, I found her death certificate that shows her father was Richard Pigeon, mother unknown. She arrived in the US in about 1859. She and her husband John Culkin, also from Ireland, lived with John D. Noble who was a steel baron. They were probably servants, perhaps indentured, found in 1860 to be working for him. They had several children, one of which they named after Edmond St. George Noble, John Noble's brother. This would seem to indicate that they were close to the Noble family. Any information that anyone might have on this line would be appreciated greatly!

I also have a grandmother, who's name was Sarah Pigeon. My data from the FamilySearch.com says she was born in about 1841 in Neosho, MO. She married my grandfather, John Culkin, and they had a son they called John after his father and another son named Hubert. Do you think they might be the same person?

I am related to John Eades through john eades (2nd) and then his son Miles Eades....any way, The person you were talking about is Deletha Pigeon as far as I have heard.. my aunt went to south carolina or where ever the national registry is and was not able to find anything on her.
But we had heard the tale all our lives that we were Cherokee Indian but couldnt prove it...

hi, my name is Joe Pigeon and I am trying to find some long losts roots. My fathers name was Alphonse Pigeon, born in NY. His father was Isaia Pigeon, (though I was told at one time it was Alfred). I was told he was French Canadian.
He married an Irish immigrant,maiden name Rose Hollywood, though she may have had an earlier marrage. They had three children, my father Alphonse, daughter Angela and son Leo. Their dad took off when they were very young, and their mom died when my dad was 13. None of the children would talk much about their parents.
I recently found out Isaia had a sister named Eugenia, marrried to Joseph Munzberg, and the Munzbergs had a daughter, Alfreeda, married name Church, who lived in Ravena, NY.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

New Canadian Web Site for Pigeon Lineage

I recently found a site called yourfolks.com which, amongst other family surnames, lists Pigeon marriages in the Eastern Townships area south of Montreal, Quebec. The dates range from the mid 1800s to the mid 1900s, and in addition to showing bride and grooms it also shows their parents, and indicates if either party had been married previously, etc. It could be a helpful site.

Hi Andy - do you have details of your family tree back to the original Pierre Pigeon/Jean Godard? My own lineage is from Pierre (b. abt 1638), Louis b1675, Louis Basile b.1706, Louis Basile b. 1742, Jean Baptriste b.1798, Francois Xavier b. 1838 (my great grandfather). So while we may be distantly related it would be of interest to know where the split is.

Carrie Pigeon - Photo

About two years ago or so there was a notice in this or another popular Pigeon message board offering an old photo marked "Carrie Pigeon" taken in Chicago about 1900. The lady offering it would collect these old photos if identifiable by name and try to reunite them with modern day family members, etc. At the time I could not make a connection to the photo but I now believe it could well be my great aunt. Sadly I can no longer find the posted message offering the picture, etc and it may have been removed. Can anyone offer any advice, and if this Carrie Pigeon is my great aunt, I also have a picture of her father available as a young man in a civil war uniform.

Hi Randall - I haven't yet come across an Emma in my Pigeon lineage search but I may as I broaden out the tree. I certainly have seen Emma Pigeons in my search. Can you tell us what part of the country you bought the pictures in, and from Emma's dress, etc could you estimate the approximate time frame of the picture
