Her father was Sam Pilot of either PA or NY. Her mother died shortly after her birth. She was raised by her mother's cousin Elizabeth Evans Smith in Waupaca, WI. She had several siblings, none of whom were ever heard from once her father brought her to Waupaca. Ellen m.
