Jean Jules PINAIRE - Photos

Southern Indiana PINAIRE*: Jean Jules Pinaire, and daughter, Julia Eliz. (Pinaire) Burgess.

I have inherited the photo albums of Rose Ellen (Burgess) Harmon, and Clarence W. Harmon. Lots of gems in this batch. Most in very good condition.

Several photos of:
Joseph Peter "J.P." Burgess and his wife Julia Eliz. (Pinaire) Burgess. A good shot of their home as well.
Their children:
Rose Ellen (Burgess) Harmon (her LIFE, basically)
Ada (Burgess) Bye, childhood through teen years, plus one of her 3 young children, Fern, Viola and Olaf Bye.
Charles Burgess as a boy up to maybe 13/14.
Rose Ellen's husband, Clarence W. HARMON (lots of Harmon photos as well, will be posting that information on the Harmon board.) and lots of her children, and grandchildren through her son Lloyd.

A Few Gems:
1. Joseph Peter's father, Amos Burgess, as an ancient little old man with (we believe)his wife Ester Ellen Hass/Haas in front of their home.

2. Julia's Father, Jean Jules Pinaire. Possibly TWO of him. One is unmarked, but bears a striking resemblance. The 2nd, and unmarked, is metal. Not sure of the date taken, but it is one of the oldest in the collection. It's gotta be a Pinaire though, the strong nose gives it away.

3. Wm F. Harmon's grandfather, Isaac Harmon, as a haggard old man in front of his home.

I've spent the last couple of weeks getting them scanned in and am currently still working on finalizing them, but the main important photos are in the media section of my tree. However, my tree is currently private, so you will need to contact me, where I can then invite you to view the pictures. PLEASE do not worry too much with my information. It is a working tree, more of a collaboration of various trees and cannot be assumed to be accurate until I gather more sources. It's more of just an ancestor tree, with very little descendancy of those branches listed. My main concern at this point is to make sure these gems of PHOTOS make it out into the web with full force. I cried when I opened the box and saw that I had 200+ photos of 7 generations, well preserved, and many actually marked. It was the find of my genealogical life so far :) I want for others to have that same excitement.

So if you are connected with this line and would like to add some gorgeous photos to your tree, please email me privately, through my profile page and I'll be happy to make them available to you. I'll also be submitting them to several different photo sites as the weeks progress (will update here) , and will be donating many of them to the Indiana Room at New Albany Floyd County Public Library in southern Indiana. Photos are my absolute passion when it comes to my family research, and I certainly want to ensure that these wonderful photos have a long and useful life :)

Sure hope this makes someone's day extra happy! lol

Neisha Siltz-Gooden
ckgooden@blueriver.net

* this message also posted to HARMON and BURGESS boards

Hello Linda,
My name is Ann Sorebo (nee Magnenat). My great grandparents were Eugenia Pinaire & Jean Henri Magnenat. I have been stumped on the Pinare line until just recently when I discovered info on Ancestry.com. Then I discovered your info. I am so excited about what you have. I never knew where in France the Pinares originated from or where they arrived in the US. This is wonderful info! If I have any info you may want, please let me know - I am willing to share.
Thanks,
Ann

I too am a Pinaire. My Mother was a Pinaire before she married. Her Father was Francis Ulric Michael Pinaire. I have info on this line of the family and have access to much more from my Aunts and Uncles. There is a large bunch of Pinaire's living in California. They mostly were born in Kansas, around Wichita. I can be reached at deaconsbear@aol.com.

Pinaire

My great-great grandfather id Felician Pinaire. His son, John Felcian Pinaire, left Indiana as a young man. He married my great-great grandmother in Bluff City Kansas. He probably came to Kansas because his Uncle, Jean F. Pinaire, settled in Leavenworth, Kansas before Kansas became a state, perhaps in about 1857. John F. then went on to help settle Oklahoma, living in Guthrie OK around the time the land rush. He and his wife,Nettie Berkshire Pinaire ,then lived in various places in Missouri, ie Mexico MO and Joplin Mo as well as Moark Arkansas. They then returned to the home of Nettie's father, Greenberry Berkshire, which was a farm in Champaign County, IL., where they raised there family, including my grandfather, Claude E. Pinaire. My grandfather, married Hazel Burley, and they raised there family on that same homeplace, including my father, Claude E. Pinaire,Jr.,brother Larry, sister, Sandy, brother Robert, and brother, Richard. That home place is now owned by Larry Pinaire and is occupied by he and his wife.
Re: Pinaire/Pinaise

Sharon, See my other post here about the history. To answer your question about the spelling. The Pinaire's came from France and still have family there near LeNans France. The name was not origionally spelled with an "s" in it.

They came by ship to New Orleans, La and from there up the Missippi and Ohio Rivers and setteled in Harrison County near a small community named Frenchtown.

The information I have is that all Pinaire's in US are descendants of this family. There were 6 sons and 3 daughters. I am a descendant of Theodore who was the 4th son and I have up to date information about all of his descendants. If you want I could probably give you the name of someone who has more general information concerning the others from this family. E-mail me if you desire more information.

Linda Fisher, New Albany, In.
lfisher313@att.net

Re: family tree

Jean Claude Pinaire, bor 1795 in Lamans Coubs, France died May 12, 1835 in France. He was mayor of this town in France. His parents were Claude Francois Pinaire and Francais Augennot. He married Marie Joseph Ory.

They had 6 sons and 3 daughters and when Jean Claude was killed there was some kind of political problem in their town and his wife took all nine children and left. They came by boat to New Orleans and then up river to Leavenworth, Ind. From there they went to Frenchtown, Indiana.

Felician was the eldest son, and is buried in the old Catholic cemetary near Frenchtown. The only real information that I have about him is that he married Marie Stephanie Boucard, August 27, 1850. I may have the date of his death, but not in the file I am looking at.

I am a descendant of the fourth chid Theodore and have all of his descendants up to now. At least most of them.

All of the Pinaire's in US are from this family. Origionally they had a large land grant in a valley north east of Frenchtown, near Ramsey Indiana. A large portion of this land is still owned by descendants. I don't know where you are geographically. But since you are a Pinaire you are a cousin of Cousin Willie of popcorn fame. My grandchildren get a kick out of knowing Cousin Willie is really their cousin, even if is is distant.

Actually my children went to school with Willie's children and were about the same age.

I have somewhere the e-mail address of a cousin who has visited the Pinaire's in France and has much more information than I do. I will look for it for you. E-mail me if you desire more information that I have.

Linda Fisher LFisher313@Att.net

Linda,
I have found out since last post that I am descended from Felicien Pinaire.
I was just reading your previous email about the Pinaire line. It sounds like you are in the Harrison County area. I live in Floyd. I have visited the Frenchtown Cemetery and Harrison County Library a few times lately trying to find information. I would love any information that you could give me about the family. Please email me.
Michelle
family tree

My grand father is Claude Pinaire, the son of John F. Pinaire.
John Pinaire was the son of Felician. I have not been able to confirm this but I believe that his father was Charles Pinaire who died in Lanans France around 1835. Does any one have the name of his father? Richard Pinaire

FAMILY TREE

Hi Pinaire cousins. My father Kenneth G.Pinaire was raised in Ramsey, Indiana and when I was a young man I did some basic research on the family including looking a census records in New Albany, Indiana and visiting the cemetary at Frenchtown, Indiana.

I have spoken with a gentleman in northern Michigan who told me his father did research during WWI indicating the family moved from Portugal to France in about 1590. He stated the family name in Portugal was Pinaro. Please e-mail me with any information you have. Thanks, Blaine Joseph Pinaire
1710 Whitegate Lane, East Lansing, Michigan 48823
