Michael Pinkley/Elizabeth Reel NC to Barren Co., KY

Does anyone have access to the will of Micheal Pinkley 1838 Barren Co., KY. I am trying to verify the named children.

From the family groups shown on the censuses in Burke Co., NC - 1790 to 1810 - Michael and Elizabeth Reel Pinkley had 9 children, 2 males and 7 females. The two sons were George born about 1792 (the first child) and William born 9 June 1804 married Mary "Polly" Huckaby 26 Dec. 1824 Barren Co., KY. The names of the daughters are a bit sketchy. 1) Elizabeth born abt. 1794 married David Border(Bodder) 12 Dec. 1816, Barren Co., KY. (The father of David was Peter Border(Bodder)who was living in Buncombe Co., NC- adjacent to Burke Co - in 1810. The Pinkley and Border family may have traveled from NC to Ky together with both families appearing on the 1820 Barren Co., KY census). 2) Margaret "Peggy" born abt. 1798 married William C. Luckett 30 Dec. 1818 Barren Co., KY. 3) Maryann born abt. 1800 married John Eaton 28 Jan. 1820 Barren Co., KY. 4) Ruth no info. 5) Jerusha no info 6) possibly Rachel although the Rachel Pinkley who appears in the househhold of George in 1850 is listed as 68 years old and would have been born about 1783 - a little early to be a child of Elizabeth Reel Pinkley. 7) ????

Any help appreciated!

Thanks.

Charmaine Reel Ernst

Hi Pat, I am no expert by any means. Not much of a Pinkley expert either. My wife is of the line of Michael (Pinckley) Pinkley. Michael was the son of John Pinckley and Ann Tosh. John had 10 living children. Michael the youngest son was born Jan 3, 1816 in Barren Co. Kty. I am told that the family of Michael belonged to the Church of Christ. Thus he changed his name to Pinkley to not be confused with the rest of the family who were Baptist members John Pinckley was born in Ireland 1750-60 He emigrated to America to escape his "wicked step-mother" In the Revolution he was a fifer He served with the 7th Maryland Reg. 1790 shows John in Washington Co. MD. Before 1800 he moved to Tomkinsville, Kty In 1800 he was in Barren Co. Kty. John and some of his children moved to Carroll Co. TN about 1823-4.
From what I see most of the Binkley family settled in Eastern TN So I can not see evidence that they are the same family. .Keep looking!! Miracles do happen.
Hello potential Binkley cousins: Has anyone tried to link Michael Pinkley to the Michael Binkley, son of Catarina Werle Binkley??? The Michael Pinkley bc 1760 is so close to Gramma Cat's son that I believe they are one and the same. Which means that Michael IS NOT the brother of Irish John Pinckley. Gramma Cat's son John's vital data does not track with Irish John. We Binkley progeny are desparately searching for links to Gramma Cat's 3 sons and 3 daughters as mentioned in her will of 1801 in MD.
Any ideas or updates???? Thanks... Pat

Thank you for the advice. The DAR is really pushing for concrete documentation for George and his William C. I've got tons on both of these men, but not a shread of paper putting them in the same household. I can place them about 120 houses away from each other in the 1850 census, but that's as close as it gets; and it wasn't enough for the DAR board.

So I'll check searching...thanks again.

I have found 2 different spellings for your Luckett/Pinckley-Pinkley. I'm thinking it might be Pinkley. William & Margaret (Peggy) had a son George Washington Pinckley/Pinkley DOB April 1824-March 1891. He married Martha Jane Cooper and they named their son George Washington Luckett as well--DOB July 1864 in Tennessee. George Washington seems to be a common name in the "Pinkley" family. Search Ancestry for Margaret Pinkley--her father was Michael C.---her mother was Elizabeth Reel. Good Luck.

I don't have a connection with Michael, but I do note that my wifes Pinckley line is founded on a John Pinckley b. ca 1760.Listed as born in Ireland. Lived in Maryland. He served in the Revolution. A member of the 7th Maryland Reg. as was Michael. In 1790 census of Maryland showed a john Pinckley. The 1800 tax list lists John Sr in Barron Co. Kty.About 1820 the Pinckleys moved to Carroll C. TN. I would guess John and Michael were brothers Thus two lines exists. I have a writeup by Grant Hillis dated Feb. 1982 that covers some interesting material. If you do not have it I would be glad to mail you a photo copy. Leslie Price

Pinckley - Macon Co., TN

Hello fellow Pinckley researchers. I am descended through Francis O. PINCKLEY b. 1842 in Tn., daughter of Samuel (?) PINCKLEY and Elizabeth Wakefield and wife of John Adams.

John Adams and Francis O. PINCKLEY lived in Macon Co, TN had the following children: Margaret b. 1869, Cassady b. 1871, William b. 1873, Samuel b. 1879. (1880 census, Macon Co., TN district 7, #217)

The 1850 Macon County, TN census shows Francis with her mother, Elizabeth Wakefield PINCKLEY and they are living in what I presume is Elizabeth's father, Alexander Wakefield, household:
1850 census, Macon Co., TN, Dist. 7, #78
Alexander Wakefield 60, Mary Wakefield (?), James Wakefield 22, Elizabeth Pinckley 20, Francis O. 8, Mary E. 5, Nancy J. 3, James Comer (?) 70.

I do not know who Franics O. PINCKLEY's father was but have seen in others records on rootsweb that it is Samuel PINCKLEY and he died in 1847. I would be interested in information regarding this. If this is so then it would explain why Francis and her mother, Elizabeth Wakefield PINCKLEY were living with a Wakefield family without Samuel PINCKLEY. Any help with these families would be greatly appreciated.

A research of PINCKLEYS born in Tennessee and living in the USA during the 1880 census showed a total of 87 with 81 of them in Tennessee. All 81 were living in Carroll County, TN. Macon County TN is next to the TN/KY border. There was one PINCKLEY household in the entire state of KY and it consisted of ten living in Barren Co., KY close to Macon Co, TN. How are the Macon Co., TN/Barren and Monroe Co, KY PINCKLEYS related to the Carroll County, TN PINCKLEYS?
Thank you for your time.
Gary

In my material from Harry I have that John P married to Jennie Wood . Second child was Susan(na) Comer born ca 1798 and married 1815. Harry states a John Pinc(t)ly served in the 7th Maryland Regiment as did Michael Pinckley. 1790 census of Washington Co, Md shows a John Pinckley. I have a couple of others that have helped me about 4 years ago on the Pinckley family if you would be interested.
