The following is an except from some papers that I received several years ago from my mother. She was a Pinckney. It was supposedly compiled by a relative. I have been trying to put it in some sort of order.
the following reads " sometime in the early 18th century,(probably abt. 1725) three brothers came from England: William, Charles, and Jonathon. They settled first in N.Y.. I have knowledge of William having 2 sons. Ezekiel, born abt.1730 and Thomas born abt. 1732. Ezekiel had a son named John, who had 2 daughters, Emily & Susan. One (doesn't say which) married a Mr.Vermilya the other Mr. Lawson. The mother of these 2 girls died and John married again (no name) and this wife gave birth to a son Joseph. She died when Joseph was only 12 days old- This Joseph pinckney was born 9 Dec. 1795."
The article goes on to say that Joseph was raised by Ezeliel, his grandfather, and no mention as to what happened to John. This Joseph Pinckney died June 16 1871, and is buried in the Moon Cemetary, in Macksburg, Iowa.
