Hello,
I am trying to find the descendants of Allen Pinkerton who was a Pinkerton agent during President Lincoln's tenure. I have obtained a book written by him, about an attempt on Lincoln's life. It was published by a publisher called Rode and Brand, in 1868. If any of his descendents read this, please contact me.
Thank you,
Paula Williamson

Looking for information on a William Pinkerton who was born in N.C. about 1820.In 1855 he married a Elender E. Hicks in Fannin Co. Ga. Was apparently married before, because he had five children that was born in N.C. before he moved to Ga. and two more born in Ga. before he married Elender. The children he had before he and Elender were married was R.A., Nicholas ,Mary S.,Sarah A. Nancy S.,Rebecca I.and Elizabeth. The children he and Elender had together was David A.,Narcissa R., Barbary E.,Sency? or Serrcy? (not real sure about that name),William T., and Joseph H. All of these were born in Ga.I found them in Bartow Co. Ga. in the 1870 cencus. If anyone can help me locate them after this date your help would appreciated so much. Thank you for your assistance.
Pinkerton from Antrim, in Indiana in 1880 census

Many many thanks to the kind and helpful people who transcribed the Parke co. census online. I have just discovered my great great uncle and his family in Washingtown township, Parke county. Is anyone researching John and Anna (Lynn) Pinkerton who are in Washington township in the 1880 census? All I knew about him was that he had married a Lynn and died in Rockville, Indiana in 1880. This is the same year he appeared in the census, leaving I believe from the census two sons and two daughters. Also from postings on genealogical forums re Rockville, Indiana, there seems to have been a TB sanitorium there and that might be why he died young, in his 40s, and also possibly why, though the eldest son, he did not stay in Ireland to inherit the family farm near Ballymoney, co. Antrim. I have a good deal on this family, and I am myself from co. Antrim, so I have photos etc, and local knowledge. Looking forward to hearing from relatives.
Linde Lunney

Search for Katharine Pinkerton: Author

In the late 1950's, I was a student in Fort Worth Public Schools. All of our school libraries at the time we well-stocked and well maintained.
A couple of the well-read books in our library at Meadowbrook Jr. High School, were books by an author, Katharine (I remember it started with a "K") Pinkerton. I read both of the books by her in the library at the time (1957-59). One of them was named, "Hidden Harbor". I don't recall to name of the other book.
I have looked high and low for these books, probably long out of print. Does anyone know of this Katharine Pinkerton? Her books were so excellent.
Richard Pullen/Fort Worth

Pinkertons in Allegheny County, PA - 1800s

I am looking for information on the Pinkerton family in Allegheny, PA in the late 1700’s and early 1800’s. The earliest reference I have is to a Col. Andrew Greg Pinkerton, a Revolutionary war veteran, who is mentioned in the book “History of Allegheny County” (see also message #7 from July 1999). The book mentions that Andrew Pinkerton had a daughter Mary, who married into the Ritchie family, and a son John. I would be interested in information about Col. Pinkerton and his family, prior to his arrival in western PA.

Specifically, I am wondering if the John Pinkerton who settled in Ohio Township of Allegheny County in the early 1800’s (born about 1785), as found in the federal census records, is the same John who is the son of Col. Andrew Pinkerton. I have pretty good information on John Pinkerton and his sons, who farmed in Ohio Township throughout most of the 1800s.

Please reply to this message or by email.

Searching to see if there may be any interest in DNA testing with the surname of Pinkerton.
I am firm in my genealogy back to my 3rd great grandfather Pinkerton immigrating from Ireland
in 1791. In 1848, my 3rd recorded his ancestors three more generations backwards to Scotland.
He stated there were frequent migrations to America. DNA would possibly help us connect the
Pinkerton family groups in America.
A minimum of 6 male (must have the surname Pinkerton) participants is required to start the project.
Anna
Thomas and George Pinkerton in England

I have a marriage certificate dated 25 April 1863 for the marriage between George Pinkerton and Sarah Thomasin Dodds. George was 24 at the time, a miner, and gave his residence as Gilesgate Moor which is in Durham, England. His father is given as Thomas Pinkerton, and Thomas's occupation is given as "Gentleman" -- an unsual designation for a miner's father, but there you are. Anyone have any link with these two?

The above name came up on the passenger list of a ship I am researching. I am posting this to all the bulletin boards for passenger’s last names. My hope is to compile a short biography of the passengers. If you have someone by this name that might have made a voyage to/from South America on the Delta Lines Delorleans in early 1941 I would love to hear from you.

Note: rootsweb is giving me an error message unless I take the space out of the email address.
I am looking for information on 2 sisters - Mary Jane Pinkerton (born about 1830 in Northern Ireland) and Ann Pinkerton (born around 1828 in Northern Ireland). Their mother was Jane (McFarland/McFarlane) Pinkerton and I think their father was Andrew. The family immigrated to Canada and settled in Quebec. Mary Jane married Samuel Goodfellow in 1853 in Huntingdon Co., Quebec. Ann married Samuel's brother, Robert Goodfellow, in 1852, also in Huntingdon Co., Quebec. I am interested in finding out where they came from in Ireland, their actual birth dates and also the any dates for their parents. Also, did they have any other siblings.
