Hi Becky,

The only Piquette I really know about is Joseph Picquette (he was Pickett in his obituary), who was my grandmother's maternal grandfather. I do know that they were French Canadian but there are so many people with the same name that I'm just trying to narrow things down based on birth dates/locations, etc. I actually saw his obituary card as a child, but unfortunately, my grandmother destroyed a lot of family pictures and things when her Alzheimer's got bad, and that was one thing that was lost, so I ahve to guess on date of birth. I know that his daughter settled in Northern Minnesota, where I'm from originally, but it looks like she was born in southern/central Minnesota, so they may have migrated from another area before moving north. I will definitely keep you posted if I find some more information.

In doing some research, I believe that your Joseph Piquette who married Maria was the son of Alex (Alexis) Piquette and Marie Louis Pellerin. Alexis was the son of Prudent Piquette and Marie Arpin - making Alexis the brother of my greatgrandfather, Prospere Piquette. Please contact me at 1lachawk@att.net.

I'm looking for any information on my great, great grandparents and the Piquette family line. My great-grandmother was Clorise Pickett (Piquette), father Joseph M Pickett (Piquette), his father Joseph Piquette, believe his father was Jean Baptiste Piquette from St. Jacques, Quebec. I know they were French-Canadian in descent. My grandmother and her parents lived in NW Minnesota. I've actually seen the funeral card for Joseph M. Pickett. Beyond that, I have no real info beside what I've found on ancestry.com. My grandmother and all of her siblings are dead and most of the family history is lost.
I appreciate any info anyone has.

Thank you,
Robyn

Have found Daniel and Sarah in the 1850 census of 1st district of Baltimore which is near Catonsville. He was a gardener. Sarah and children (no Daniel) are found in the 1870 census also in the Catonsville area. Have not found them in 1860.
There is another Daniel Piquette in Baltimore City in 1860 with a different spouse and set of children. This Daniel may have caused some confusion to our research.

I found the following marriage in "Marriages. Paroisse de Saint-Jacques, 1774-1987", by Mme. Euclide Leblanc, published by the Societe de Genealogie de Lanaudiere, Casier Postal 221, Joliette, J6E 3Z6 Canada, 1988.

Ludger Brisson, son of Jean-Baptiste and Marcelline Theriault of St. Ligouri, married Marie-Eugenie Froment, minor, daughter of Louis and Delphine Morin, 8 Jan 1883, at Saint-Jacques de L'Achigan, Montcalm County, Quebec.

St.-Jacques is the only prish I have the complete index for. Unfortunately none of their childen is listed in St.-Jacques.

St.-Ligouri, where Ludger parents lived is very close to St.-Jacques. Perhaps they lived there sfter their marriage.

Hope this helps a litle.

Cliff Venier

Bob Joe PIGUET 1930-2007 Oklahoma

From the Claremore Daily Progress newspaper, Claremore, Rogers County, Oklahoma on June 19, 2007

Bob Joe Piguet

— Services for Bob Joe Piguet will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at Meadowview Baptist Church.

Charles Welch and Dr. L.M. Woodson will share words of comfort. Burial will follow at Timber Ridge Cemetery, Catoosa, under the direction of Rice Funeral Service. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 6 – 8 this evening.

Bob passed away Fri., June 15th, 2007. He was 76.
Born in Catoosa on Nov. 18th, 1930 to Alec and Willie (Howell) Piguet, Bob grew up and received his education in his birth community. He graduated from Catoosa High School with the Class of ’49 and then attended OMA, now Rogers State University. He obtained his bachelor’s degree at Northeastern and his MS and Doctorate at OSU.

Bob spent much of his life teaching and instilling the importance of a good education in the schoolchildren he so dearly loved. He was affectionately known as “Doc” to the children as well as all who knew him. Much of his career was spent at Red Rock Public Schools. He served as Superintendent for 13 years before accepting the position of superintendent at Chattanooga Public Schools near Lawton. It wasn’t long, however, before his Rogers County roots drew Bob and his wife, Loretta, back to Claremore where he retired in 1995.

Bob was a gifted musician and in his younger days could be found playing dances at the old Legion hut in Claremore. He never lost his love of music and could be heard playing his “fiddle” for hours. Bob, along with the Tanner family, played for the residents of Wood Manor and Claremore Nursing Home ach week, spreading much cheer and brightening their long days. Bob did this most recently the day before he left this life to be with his Lord and Savior.

Photography was another of Bob’s hobbies. He took many beautiful pictures and never missed recording special occasions and making sure everyone received their share.

He was a wonderful husband and father and the absolute best grandpa ever to his grandchildren. He will be sorely missed.

Bob is survived by his wife, Loretta, of their home in Claremore; his children, Connie Jo Davis and her husband, Charles, also of Claremore and Jerri Taulman and her husband, Dave, of Stillwater; his grandchildren, Brian Taulman and his wife, Lisa, Daniel Joe Taulman, Shannon Ellerd and her husband, Mark, Jenny Davis, Lindsay Cole and her husband, Jason, and Haley Davis; great grandchildren, Taylor Alt, Lesleigh, Lane and Logan Ellerd; his brother, Lloyd Piguet and his wife, Raydean, of Rialto, California; his aunts, Neva Van Meter of Enid and Susie Potts of Claremore; good friend who was like a son, Joe Hirsch and his wife, Nancy; and lifelong friends, Bill and Sonda Keller and Terry and Angie McNeil and their daughter, Alyson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Frank and Wayne Piguet.

Andreas/Andrees Pique/Pick -- Spanish? or French?

Would like to have information on an Andreas or Andrees Pique [or Pick], reported to have served in Napoleon's army. Am interested in his parentage and nativity.

Andrees is thought to be a Spaniard (or French?). He was in Sembzin, Mecklenburg vorPommern Germany about 1813-15 when he and Catherine Dorothea Holtz became the parents of Heinrich Ludwig Pique, born 6 October 1814, baptized 10 October 1814 in Sembzin, Evangelical Lutheran Church, parish of Sietow/Poppentin. Heinrich used his mother's surname Holtz; he was married in Germany before immigrating to the US. and finally settling in Michigan.

Any information that will identify this Andrees Pique and his parentage will be most welcomed.

Thomas Henry French born 1843, was the son of Thomas French by his second wife, Mary Ellen Burke Foy. Thomas' first wife was Naomi Brown. They had one child together, Sarah French who married Daniel Piquette in Baltimore, MD. So that is how the French family and the Piquette families are connected.
I have heard the story that Thomas Henry French was in the military. He is buried in the Holy Rood Cemetery, Georgetown, Washington, DC. Died 27 Mar 1882.

Hi on line I came across a family tree showing a female Piquette that married a Boland. Her father it showed was Charles Cachochise Piquette but then the person who did the tree has mixed up information. I tried to contact them for info but no reply. Anyone know about a Boland marring a Piquette? IThe family tree was then tied to my great grandfather (William Boland) but it doesn't make since because he was born in Ireland and the Piquette were in Michigan which is where my relative ended as well but in the Bay City area. Thank you!

Ancestors of this couple with the surnames listed are found in the Repertoire of St. Jacques (Montcalm County). There may be more. I wasn't too thorough at this stage. In addition, there are many siblings. I do not know how much information you have, nor how much you want. The more specific is your request, the better I can help you.

Alternatively, since you have so many ancestors in this parish, you mihgt consider buying the Repertoire for yourself.

Let me know what you need. You family goes back to the early 1800s in St. Jacques.

I sympathize with your problem in being located a long way from Quebec and trying to find family there. I live in Texas.
You have a lot of family in St. Jacques. I found 51 direct ancestors of yours going back to the beginning of the parish. Both the Piquettes and Gagnons are prominent families.
I can send you the GEDCOMs on the internet, or I can mail you the print outs by US mail, or if you want the thrill of the chase, I can send you the addresses necessary to purchase the St. Jacques books.
I should give the usual warning. I used only the published indexes. They could be wrong and I could have copied things wrong or missed some pieces of information. One way you can be very sure of these data is to get a copy of the St. Jacques parish register on microfilm at your local LDS (Mormon) Family History Center. They provide the best possible copies of the originals virtually free.

Let me know what you want to do.

Also looked for the date, in case the year was wrong. Still no luck. It is possible that he was omitted in the transcription. More likely, he was born somewhere else, but the family lived in St. Jacques.

Thanks for the reply. My French line comes from James French who settled in Maryland in 1671, his father was Martin French of Galwaay Ireland. I am wondering if there is a connection between Martin French and Captain French's line back in Ireland/England. I am also a member of the Little Big Horn Associates, an organization interested in the Battle of the Little Bighorn where Custer and his Command were killed. French fought in this battle and survived. He was later Court-Martialed out of the Service for Drinking. He never testified at any of the Hearings that were going on at the time, sort of like the 9-11 Hearings now. There are a number of people in this Organization who would like to see his Court-Martial reversed, but I am told it takes a blood relative to start this process. If you or any one else related is interested in this, please contact me privately.

Thanks,

Thomas J. I am a descendant from their daughter Virginia C. Piquet Hippenmeier. They lived in NY(don;t know county) and moved to Hudson County NJ btwn 1862 and 1865. Louis was a watchmaker in Jersey City. I have a picture of an Eva Piquet taken around 1900's in Jersey City. She is supposed to be a cousin of the family. Can someone please help me with any info on this family. Also, could he have been related to the famous watchmaker Audemars Piguet?

My Picquet family immigrated to the US in 1835. They settled in southern Illinois and were engaged in farming and other activities. The came from Haguenau, Bas Rhin and were negotiants in the dry goods business. They had lived in Haguenau and Strasbourg since the early 1700's. Have a great deal of information about the Piquettes who lived in St. Jacques, County Montcalm, PQ, Canada. Contact me here or e-mail @ lachawk@apci.net.

Do not have any information on Pickette's of Windsor, Ontario. Do you know anything more about them? Have found some families in Michigan. Perhaps they crossed the border into Canada???
