I am J. Riley Smirnow (born 7/27/40, J. Riley Plamondon) to George Riley Plamondon and his then wife, Zella (Sexton) Plamondon in San Francisco, CA. George and Zella were maried in the Fall of 1939 in Reno, NV, and divorced in about 1943, Zella came east to NY about that time with me in tow, and married my (not-biological) father Alex Smirnow in 1948. I was adopted by Alex in about 1950. Nellie and Louis would be my grandparents. It would appear that I have an uncle, Peter L Plamondon, who is a half-brother to my father, George Riley Plamondon. I am going to contact him in the next few days. I believe that prior to my being born, George R. had two other children, a boy and a girl. I would be interested in any info on them (if true), as they would be my half-siblings.

I also have a copy of the Plamondon book. The descendant's of George Francis Plamondon mostly live today around the Olympia, Wa. USA area. I have had many visits with various family members. George wrote his manuscript because he wanted everyone in his side of the family too know that they did not have any Indian blood in his direct line. Who will ever know why he felt that he needed to show that difference.
But the funny fact is that he forgot to dig a little deeper into his great grandmothers ancestry through Simon Plamondon, who himself was 1/4 Abenaki Indian through his grandmother on his mother's side.
Thank You for your post.

Hi- Thank you for your post. I would, indeed, be interested in a lookup, if such information is included in the book you've mentioned. The surnames listed below are the maiden names of the wives, going backwards from my father. I am specifically trying to find out the marriage date/town of my grandparents, George Alric Plamondon and Alvina Charest, and, if listed, the date of their emmigration from Canada to New Hampshire, USA.

A more detailed lineage is below in case you need it for reference:

My father was Dolard George Plamondon, son of George Alric Plamondon, married to Alvina Charest. They emmigrated to Manchester, New Hampshire from Wotton,(spelling?) PQ, Canada. All their children were born in Manchester.
George Alric was son of Joseph Plamondon and Philomene Vincent; in turn son of Jean-Marie Plamondon and Felicite Dion. Jean-Marie was son of Jean-Marie and Marguerite Plante.
Yet another Jean-Marie was HIS parent, in turn, married to Brigitte (Beslisle)Levasse (dau. of Gabriel Beslisle and Elizabeth Guyon) This Jean-Marie was son of Joseph Plamondon and Marguerite Maret. Joseph was son of Pierre Plamondon and Charlotte Hamel, in turn son of Philippe Plamondon and Marguerite Clement.
I have Philippe as b. 1641 in Peyrosse, Chermont, France.

Family tradition states that this earliest Philippe was sent to Canada by the French government on a surveying mission.

Thank you so much for any assistance or information you can provide.

...Liz
Hi All - I recently acquired a copy of a wonderful old family book - The Plamondon Family as told by George Francis Plamondon. Although I'm not related to or researching this family, I would be happy to copy and send specific pages. The book isn't indexed, but there are other surnames of extended family as well. The chapters are: The Plamondon Family; The French Plamondons; The French-English Plamondons; Simon Plamondon and the early Northwest; The French-English-Cowlitz Indian Plamondons; The French-English-Irish Plamondons. Regards, Sue sug53@earthlink.net

Hi Theresa. My name is Collette Dickson and I am also rsearching my Plamondon side of my family. I believe this family from many regions of Canada, mostly Quebec. One person named Simon moved from Canada to Northwest coast and was captured by the Cowlitz tribe. He ended up marrying Chief Scanewa daughter. Now whether this is true is something I'm going to have to look into. I did not know there were any Plamondons in Mn. My grgrgrgr mother was name Elizabeth Plaomondon dit La Fleur. I have many names but putting them together is another thing. Hoping to hear from you. Thanks for the information.
