My great-grandmother is Rose Plante. She currently lives in Barrie. I don't know what her birthday is, though, or where she was born. I know she's of French descent and that she was adopted by a sister in the family. I'm not sure if Rose was the sister or the real mother, though. I just know my grandmother Darlene was adopted by a sister and raised until 16 until she knew who her real mother was. Darlene is currently 57; I'm assuming Rose is around 80 (if she's still alive). Darlene was adopted because her birth mother was very young - 16? - and couldn't take care of her well enough; thus, her birth mother gave Darlene to an older sister and she was raised by her. She saw her birth mother her entire life but Darlene assumed that SHE was the aunt and not the other way around.

Rose is currently hearing-impaired as well. Darlene has a sister named Betty who might actually be a cousin of hers; she refers to her as "sister", though.

That's all I know ):

Did you ever get an answer to your question regarding the lineage of William Plante, husband of Mathilde Contre? If not, review of available parish records reveals that William Plante was the son of Georges Plante and Zoe Berneche, who happened to be the godparents at the baptism of Joseph Victor Elphege Plante.
The line originates with Jean Plante, the immigrant, son of Nicholas Plante and Isabelle Chauvin. Here is the line, as I believe to be correct:

1 Nicholas Plante Born: Abt. 1587 in Laleu, Charente-Maritime, France Died: 21 May 1647 in Laleu, Charente-Maritime, France
.... +Isabelle Elizabeth Chauvin Born: Abt. 1600 in France m: Bef. 1621 Died: 14 Feb 1646 in Laleau, Charente Maritime, France Father: Jean Chauvin Mother: Marie Malrose .
2	Jean Plante Born: Abt. 1621 in Laleu, near La Rochelle, Charente-Maritime, France Died: 29 Mar 1706 in Chateau Richer, Montmorency, Quebec, Canada
+Françoise Boucher Born: 22 Jun 1636 in Quebec City m: 01 Sep 1650 in Quebec City, Quebec Canada Died: 18 Apr 1711 in Chateau Richer, Montmorency, Quebec,
Canada Father: Marin Boucher Mother: Perrine Maillet
3 François Plante Born: 03 Dec 1668 in Chateau-Richer, Montmorency, Quebec, Canada
+Louise Berard m: 26 Oct 1694 in Chateau-Richer, Quebec, Canada
4	François Plante Born: 05 Sep 1698 in Chateau-Richer, Quebec, Canada
+Marie-Louise Joly Born: 1695 m: 09 Sep 1725 in Sorel, Richelieu, Quebec, Canada Died: 12 Jul 1777 Father: Jullian Joly Mother: Catherine Yanot
5 Jean-Francois Plante Born: 17 Oct 1726 in Sorel, Richelieu, Quebec, Canada
+Marie-Louise Lambert-Aubin m: 1756 in Sorel, Richelieu, Quebec, Canada
6 Jean-Baptiste Francois Plante
+Marguerite Rivard m: 17 Jan 1780 in St-Cuthbert, Quebec, Canada
7 Jean-Baptiste Plante
+Genevieve Robillard m: 07 Jan 1800 in St-Cuthbert, Quebec, Canada Father: Louis Robillard Mother: M.
I have a lot of information for you. I have been trying to reach you by email, but my messages have come back undelivered. Please contact me at mrisby@comcast.net

Briefly, Esdras L'Heureux and Ludivine Plante were married in Southbridge, Mass, in 1901. Their children include Marie, born 1902, Rose Alma, born in 1904, Armond, born 1905, and Sylvia, born 1908, all at Southbridge. Marie "Ludivine" Plante was born June 4, 1877, at St-Vallier, Bellechasse, Quebec, Canada. She was the daughter of Ferdinand Plante and Desanges Roy, who were married October 24, 1868, in St-Raphael, Bellechasse County, Quebec, Canada. Their children, in addition to Ludivine, were [Charles] Borromé Plante, born in 1871, Marie Mérolise, born 14 Nov 1872, Octave Wilfrid, born 12 Aug 1874 and baptized on the 14th, Marie Aurelia, born 10 May 1880, and Rose Anna Plante, born 28 March 1883 and baptized on the 29th. Merolise and Aurelie were baptized at St-Raphael, but the records state that her parents were "from St-Vallier." Wilfrid and Rose Anna were baptized at St-Vallier.
I can provide you with copies of these and additional original records, along with additional information. Please contact me by email at the address above.
MR

I assume that you are referring to Remi and Laura Plante who are on the 1900 census in Russel Township, Rolette County, North Dakota. (see attachment)
I notice that listed just above Remi Plante are Adelor Riendeau and his wife Georgiana. Adelor is the brother of Laura Riendeau. They are both the chldren of Paul Reindeau and Phelomène Chagnon. I have found their birth records. On the 1900 ND census, Laura is listed as having immigrated to the U.S. in 1876 and Remie in 1882. I find Laura Riendeau, Adelor Riendeau, and their parents and siblings living in Holyoke, Massachusetts in 1880 (See attachment). Remie's birth is listed on the 1900 census as May, 1862. The closest I can find is Remi Plante born in Ile-dupas, Berthier County, Quebec on May 19, 1863, son of Paul Plante and Sophie Bibaud. This Remi had at least four brothers: Paul Alfred, Louis, Pierre and Joseph Edward. Does any of this look familiar? I do not know whether any of the names you mentioned are related to Remi. Please contact me via Ancestry (click on "treefind4fun" above, and then click "contact".) if you have additional information that you think might help identify your Remi Plante, and I will be glad to take another look.
MR

Would you mind sharing the names of her parents and siblings, and birth information, if known? Do you know approximately when, where Ludivine and Esdras were married?
The following information may be helpful to you:
Michel Richard was born 26 Sep 1903 and was baptised ("Joseph Esdras Michel Richard") on the 27th at St-Eugénie, L'Islet County, Quebec, Canada. I have attached the record of his baptism. According to the Social Security Death Index, he died in July 1959.His parents, Napoleon Richard and Joséphine-Gratie Menard were married on 11 Jul 1893 at Notre-Dame-du-Bon-Secours, L'Islet-Sur-Mer, L'Islet County, Quebec, Canada. Napoléon was the son of Eugène Richard and Philomè Caron. Joséephine-Gratia Menard was the daughter of Pierre Menard and Marceline Giasson.
Jean-Eugène Richard (son of Frédéric Richard and Athalie Verreault) and Philomène Caron(daughter of Alexis Caron and Soulange Deladurantaye) were married 12 Jan 1864 at Notre-Dame-du-Bon-Secours, L'Islet-Sur-Mer, L'Islet County, Quebec. Pierre Menard (son of Charles Menard and Helene Fournier) and Marcelline Giasson (daughter of Marcel Giasson and Marcelline Caron) were married at St-Jean-Port-Joli, in L'islet county, Quebec, Canada.
The siblings of Michel Richard are seen on the 1901 Census of L'Islet, Quebec. (Attached).
Do you know the parents of Eva Plante, and where she was born? US? Canada?

Good luck with your research.
M.R.

There must be some connection, Paul, as my some of my ancestors were born in both Ste. Ursule, Maskinonge, Quebec, and in Oconto, Wisconsin:

Olivine Plante (b. 1863 in Ste-Ursule, Quebec, married Alfred Lapointe)
Georgiana Plante (b. 1873 in Oconto, Wisconsin, married Basile Lavallee)

These sisters were the daughters of Adolphe (Delphis) Plante and Helene Lambert. Their older sister, Ezelia (Zelia) Plante married David Loiselle or Loisel in Wisconsin in the late 1860s, but I have never been able to find record of that marriage.
