Platten and Spaul Families - Norfolk to Scugog, Canada

I saw a reference on a Huguenot web site that Gerrow is of Huguenot origin. Does anyone know of the origins of the Platten family prior to coming to Canada - info about Norfolk and previous to that? I am wondering if they were Huguenot themselves.
