I am Jennifer (Sandlin) Summerford. Fannie is my ggrandmother! My daughter shares the same bday as Fannie and Annie, 106 years apart! (Oct. 19 2006 b. Audrey Gayle Summerford). I would appreciate you sending me any pictures and any information you have to jns102@msstate.edu! Who were Jean Plaxico's parents? and Thomas Windhams parents (what was his mother's maiden name)? My great aunt holland, before she passed, told me a story about how the name plaxico came about...but I cannot remember it exactly...
All Plaxcos/Plaxicos/Plexicos in the US descend from the same person, according to S. B. Mendenhall and W. B. White, Jr.'s Plaxco-Robinson: Being an account of two of the ancient Presbyterian families of upper South Carolina (particularly situated in York and Chester Counties). I can look up anyone born before 1958.

My descent goes like this:

1 Henry Plaxco b. 1740 d. 1826
+1 Jane Bankhead b. 1742 d. 1826
...2 George W. Plaxco b. 1766 d. 1832
...+2 Elizabeth Bland b. 1768 d. 1819
......3 William Plaxco b. 1796 d. 1848
......+3 Elizabeth Smarr b. 1802 d. 1844
.........4 William Shelby Plaxco b. 1827 d. 1890
.........+4 Margaret Martha Galloway b. 1827 d. 1897
............5 Robert Newman Plaxco b. 1863 d. 1935
............+ 5 Sarah Isabel Cousar b. 1867 d. 1928
...............6 Mary Eula Plaxco b. 1895 d. 1990
...............+6 Frank Brown Edwards b. 1896 d. 1976
..................7 Sarah Amelia Edwards
..................7 Mary Frank Edwards
..................7 Margaret Brennan Edwards (my grandmother)
..................7 Harriette Roddey Edwards

I heard about that story. His name was Henry Plaxico. His brother name was George Plaxico. They changed their name from Cullins or Collins to Plaxico. Plaxico was indeed the name of the ship.

I didn't know Henry was once caught and sent back before arriving here. And I also didn't know he came from Holland. Plaxico is an extremely rare name, you know.

My great grandmother is Holland Plaxico. My grandmother told me that the Plaxico's came over here on a ship. My great great great grandfather came over here once and got caught and was sent back, but he came back and changed his last name from Collins to Plaxico the name of the ship. He came from Holland from what my great grandmother told my grandmother.

Please be patient with me; I'll have to go through my pictures and I presently have a broken arm. Some oral family stories about Malinda Taylor going to a Civil War Battlefield to get her brother's corpse; bringing him home on a wagon. Crossing a swollen creek she lost him and on and on the trials she had. I am Anna Jean's GGdaughter via Annie Windham Cheatwood. My mother was Louise Cheatwood Booker.
Hello, I am also a decendant of this line. Berry taylor plaxico married mary c. box. they had my ggggma anna jean plaxico. Berry's parents were: Wyatt Lipscomb plaxico (Born 1824 s.c.) and malinda taylor. They're children were:

Harris E.
Martha Claidana
Eliza I.
Berry Taylor
Little Malinda
William Henry
John E.

Other people researching plaxicos have said that there is the spelling switches back and forth from o to a depending on generation and locaiton. Also, people have told me that malinda (wyatt wife) was full blooded cherokee. they also said that plaxicos
italian and cherokee. None of this is corroborated but from what my relatives had told me sounds correct. but regardless i have to proof of its validity. hope this helps.
I want to take a moment to thank everyone for the information on my grandfather Walter and all my Plaxico relatives. I has been a difficult time for me. My father Gene past away from a heart attack in March. My dad and I were not very close so I never bothered him about family information. If it were not for this message board and the work of so many others I would never have know anything about my paternal family. I thank you all and to the ones who doubt my existance in this family. I do exist.....I am the only child of Gene Blane Plaxico. My name is Shannon Michelle Plaxico and I was born August 26, 1968 in Alcorn Co Mississippi. My mother and father never married. I was raised by my maternal grandparents and everyone who knew my father and mother knew of my existance. I find that I must forgive those who refuse to acknowledge me especially my step mother who completely left me out of his obituary and his funeral. It hurt that I was not notified of his death but had to read about it in the newspaper. I know my father would not have approved of any of it. I forgive and must move on.

I don't know much about my fathers family or about the origins of the Plaxico name, but I have heard a story about the first Plaxico in America was really a Collins. He was suppose to have been a stowaway on a boat to America. Upon arriving here he changed his name. Don't know if any of this is true but I have heard that told by several people. It's not a very common name.

Robin, It seems like all I am doing is correcting the mistake about Anna Plaxico. Berry Plaxico is my grandfather. His daughter is Anna Sara Plaxico who married John Weedon. She never had any children. I know this as a fact. I visited in her home as a child and saw her not long before she died. I do not know who started the thing that Anna Jean was Berry's daughter. The best I can tell from older family members and records, Anna Jean was his sister. He had a sister by that name. Of course there could have been two Anna Jeans. I can tell you for sure she was not my dad's sister. My dad's sister was Anna Sara, my aunt. The dates do not add up correctly for Berry to have been anything but her brother. They are two years apart in age. By the way I think Little M. was Little Malinda. Clarice Hesson
