Former GG&C school bus driver enjoyed crocheting

Helen Elaine Fisher, 83, of Washington, died Sunday, April 12, 2009, in Donnell House, Washington, surrounded by family and friends.

She was born January 2, 1926, in Somerset, a daughter of Jerome and Rosa Pletcher. She was raised by Frank and Alverta Schilling.

Mrs. Fisher drove a school bus for GG&C for 12 years.

She was a member of Allison Avenue Church of Christ.

Mrs. Fisher enjoyed crocheting, doing yard work and spending time with her grandchildren.

On March 29, 1945, she married John E. Fisher, who died December 4, 1992.

Surviving are a son, Roger (Patty) Fisher of Washington; four daughters, Karen (Michael) Willard, Alison J. (Greg) Musgrave and Brenda (Robert) Jordan, all of Washington, and Bonnie (Shannon) Russ of South Carolina; two stepsisters, Carol Turner of Hagerstown, Md., and Sharon Emerick of Hyndman; 11 grandchildren, Stacy Caldwell, Roger Fisher Jr., Robert Jordan III, Heather Jordan, Jasin Willard, Ann Brown, John Bunner, Jennifer Fisher, Devon Hoskins, Bethany Musgrave and Matthew Willard; and six great-grandchildren.

Deceased are a great-grandchild, Lillyanna Brown; four brothers, Carl Pletcher, Cyril Pletcher, Ralph Polgar and Gerald Freed; three sisters, Grace Pletcher, Viola Holden and Ruth Rowley; a stepbrother, David Schilling; and a stepsister, Lillian Albright.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of service, Thursday, April 16, in Allison Avenue Church of Christ, Washington, with John Wright officiating.
