Thomas Poindexter and wife-Ann Redford or Elizabeth Donahoo?

I am so confused - half of the sites I've visited say that Captain Thomas Poindexter (b. 1733) is married to Elizabeth Pledge b. 1739/40 - the daughter of: William Pledge (b. 1700) and EITHER Ann Redford b. 1716 OR Elizabeth Donahoo b. 1715. Their birthdates are either the same or off by 1-2 years. Am I missing something? Where is the documentation that would prove one or the other? Thank you for any information in sorting this out for me.
