Classification: Query
Surnames: Deaver, Poindexter
I am tracing descendants of Rev. Reuben Keith DEAVER.
One of his granddaughters was Hattie Josephine DEAVER,
who married John D POINDEXTER, son of Jasper POINDEXTER,
in Fannin County, Georgia, 10 Nov 1898.
John and Hattie had the following children: Claude H,
b. abt 1902; Mabel M, b. abt 1906; Reed C, b. abt 1908.
In the 1920 US Census (Nicholls, Coffee, Georgia), it
appears that John has a new wife, Susie, and another son,
Edward, b. abt 1913.
My question is, is Edward the son of Hattie or Susie?
I haven't been able to find any death record for Hattie,
so I don't know if she died or they divorced.
I've seen one article (unsourced) that claims that Claude
POINDEXTER became president of Coastal States Life
Insurance Co. of Atlanta and that his brother Edward was
a vice-president of the company.
