Looking for any info on my grandmother,Mintie Tabor b. 1880-1882? in MO.Her maiden name is Tabor and it looks like her mothers maiden name was Points. Mintie was married to James Henry Kessinger and then in later life she married Earl White.She said she was half Cherokee and she certainly looked of Native American decent. I am trying to find out her mother and fathers names and any siblings, etc. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Pontius/Punches/Poyntz/Points DNA Study Project

Last summer several genealogists within this surname group began a DNA study project expecting that all
the participants would be be related to each other, sharing a common genetic background. Such has not
proven to be the case.

The first six participants in the DNA study have been proven to come from three distinct genetic
backgrounds. One line is Anglo-Saxon in heritage. The second appears to be Roman in heritage and the
third is German.

All six participants bear Pontius or Pontius variant surnames. One line comes from Nicholas Pontius the
ancestor of many PFA members.

In order to understand the reasons for all the genetic lines more participants are needed. Please consider

I am assisting my sister, Catherine Points in researching her husband's family.
We located John Jane(Slover) Points in Grant County KY. Our information shows they married Aug. 27,1777 in Washington MD. Their descendants were 8, possibly more descendants one of which was Luke Points born in VA abt 1752. My sister's husband is a descendant of William whose son Daniel was her husbands grandfather.
Were the Elizabeth Slovers you mentioned any relative, possibly a mother or grandmother to Jane?
We have more info on the rest of the descendants if you are interested.

I am searching for the Sargent Points family of New Orleans, LA. The furthest back information I have is for Sargent Points. It is believed he is the one listed in Social Security records as having been born 6 June 1902 and died in July 1976. He was married to Marie Jane Anderson, and they had a son by the name of Thomas Points, believed to have been born in 1924 in LA and died in December 2000 in New York.

I am trying to fit my husband g-g-grandmother Abigail Points McClure into the Points family. She married Thomas J. McClure in 1845 in Grant Co., KY, and the bondsman was William Points. She would have been born about 1822, so William Thomas Points (1811-1902) would be too young to be her father, but maybe he is an older brother.

William Thomas Points was the son of Luke Mary Hutchason Points, who had a daughter named Abigail Points. Maybe Luke named a daughter after his sister.

Can you help me with any of this?

By the way, in your message you state Luke was born 1752 VA, but I think it was his father John who was born 1752, and wasn't it Ireland?

He was born July 17, 1853 and they later traveled west to the area of Lake Francois in central British Columbia. His fathers name was James Points and his mothers was Anna, maiden name Poyser. I would like to know when James was born, died, and if there is any relations in Kansas. I would also like to know if there are relations in Canada.

Those who don't know and are interested: I'm Rick Points son of Phillip Points, son of Woodrow Points, son of Joseph (Hunter) Points, son of David Points, son of William Points, son of John Points....I'm focused on details around Joseph, David, William and John, particularly pictures. (I do have one of David in his civil war uniform)... I'm also trying to navigate Schwartz and Daugherty lines. I have the basic tree info on Schwartz back to Prussia. Nothing past Ollie Daugherty (b. 1893?). I just found this site a few days ago and am very excited.

Joseph Points and Elizabeth Rush Had three Children James William , Frances and Summerfield James William moved to Georgia after his father's death in 1857 have no other record of him ,Frances married to James Owems in 1851 and Summerfield died in the civil was at Gettesburg. This info is from a journal written by Joseph"s youngest brother and daughters the starting date is 1856 Joseph Points is my g-g grandfather by his second wife Elizabeth Delaney .If we canmake a connection I would like a copy of that pic. I am looking for further information on my Points ancestors. My GG Grandfather - William Land Points was born c1823 in Norfolk. He married Mary Abbs in 1845 in Norwich, Norfolk.

They had a son William Land Poynts in 1855 in Camberwell, London. William married Eliza Goodyear in 1888 and they had a number of children including William Robert Land Poyntz my grandfather.
