I have been searching my family tree, and have hit a "brick wall". My great grandmother was Alice (Alesse) POISSANT. Her father was Pierre POISSANT, married to Marguerite MINNIE/MENIE. I think Pierre's father was Jacques (Jacob) POISSANT. I have derived this much from 1. my grandmother, 2. the gravemarker, located in Champlain, NY and 3. Three books that I have in my possession.
The books that I have are: "St. Mary's Church Records, Champlain, Clinton County, New York, 1860-1899", Compiled by Barbara Botten: "Coopersville N.Y., St-Joseph-Du-Corbeau, Baptisms and Burials, 1843-1880," Edited by Benoit Pontbriand: "Marriages (1830-1880) Clinton County, New York", by Benoit Pontbriand. I will gladly do lookups for anyone who needs them.
For my part, I need help with spouse of my Jacques POISSANT, and also parents, Marriage, children, etc. I think he came from Canada, but I have no info as to where. I am sorry to be so long, but would appreciate any help. Thank you. Ruth
