I was married to Henry Joe Police. His father Louis and mother Sarah came from Italy in the late 1800's. They had 13 children: Frank, James, John, Floyd, Sam, Anthony, Louis, Sarah, Kate, Rose, Mary, Henry, one deceased. They lived in Fairmont, West Virginia and Louis worked as a coal miner all of his life. I was divorced from Henry Joe in 1956. I have a son John J. Police who lives in Oregon. From his second wife, Joe had two children who now live in Hawaii. Floyd and his family live in Los Angeles. The rest of the family are all over the U.S.A. I have lost contact with them these many years.

My name is J. R. Pulicicchio or what may have been Policicchio. I recently found the link below; which is interesting to my family for particular reasons, but may also be to you. Make sure you read the entire link.

http://www.juicycitrus.com/page/page/2485265.htm

My Great grandfather was Pasquale Pulicicchio or Policicchio; although he did not live in Florida. However there is reason to beleive that his father did...

If all of these Pasquale Pulicicchio are diferent people, is there a logical reason for there being so many of them?
Yes I'm very interested in getting any information on my husband's grandfathers family. I've tried several times to search, but came to a dead end. His grandfather's name was Pasquale Pollichio and lived in or parted from Lago, Italy in 1918 or somewhere along there. He was 16 years old, he arrived in New York in the Great immigration period at Ellis island. I would greatly appreicate any information you might have to share, it would mean so much to my husband and his family. Thank you for your interest in our family. I look forward to hearing from you, hopefully very soon. Again, thank you so much!

Hi again. Did you ever check the surname history through a research
firm that costs money? I was wondering if they go overseas to complete the
full history of the family surname. Good luck.
I am still tying up loose ends on my paternal side so it will be a
month or so before I probably get to investigate the Police mystery.
I will be getting some records on him -Felix Police - this summer.
I will try to remember to keep you posted.
For your info I do know that he came from Longobardi in Calabria.
Does this ring any bell?

Police in Italy before America?

I am not at all positive what the spelling was in Italia.
I am just beginning my Police side of the family.
I understand that it probably could have been Americanized
once they arrived here. Presently, I do not have any current
evidence to prove that it was different. I do know that another Pittsburgh
family spelled it like Pollice.
Since I work full-time, I do not do my research every week.
Sorry but I only saw this post of yours. The March 18 post
makes sense to me because I do know that Greece was in charge of
Southern italy for a while.

I am going to be looking at some ship records for
certain years at the Ellis Island site, because
I think they arrived via New York. If this
does not work out then I am going to look at the
Baltimore and Philadelphia ports.
So far, I have not really looked too deeply
for the Police side of my family because I want to
to finish my father's side first. I think my
mom's side is going to be harder. I soon hope to have
some pictures and I am going to someday try to put
them on my website, but that is my goal for the
summer. Since I am a teacher, I have the summer
months off. Keep me informed about what may
be developing on your end. Thanks for making me
think about the idea of a possible name change.
I was really made at Ancestry .com the other day because
It has been two months and I still do not have full access.
In fact, they have not cashed my check yet!!
Did you ever use www.ancestry.com?
Keep on having a good searching experience.
It sounds as if you are going to get somewhere.
Sincerely,
Tony
