KEOSAUQUA - Arthur M. Poling, 98, of rural Keosauqua, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at Wapello Nursing and Care Center in Wapello, where he lived since Dec. 7, 1994.
Services will be at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua. The Rev. Chris Hinkle of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wapello will officiate.
Burial will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Cantril.
Memorials may be made to the Keosauqua United Methodist Church.
Mr. Poling was born Jan. 12, 1902, near Mount Sterling, the son of Marion and Louella Mankin Poling. He married Etta O. Morris on Feb. 18, 1928, at the Methodist parsonage in Keosauqua. She died Dec. 25, 1984. He lived on the same farm between Pittsburg and Lebanon in Van Buren County for over 60 years. He was a Methodist and had been active in various community endeavors over the years.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Cecile Hodges of Wapello; two grandsons, Michael Arthur Hodges and his wife, Joan, of Wapello and James David Hodges and his wife, Kathy, of Keosauqua; two great-grandsons, Robert David and Michael Benjamin Hodges; a great-granddaughter, Stephanie Kirsten Hodges; a step great-grandson, Peter Dale and his wife, Kirsten, and two step great great-granddaughters, Monica Rose and Alicia Dale.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, James L. Hodges; three brothers, Otto, Harley and Roy Poling; and five sisters, Zoe Wolfe, Virgle Randolph, Zella Shipley and Hazel and Edith Poling.
