May 2009 sorry about delay .If Edward was born in GB have two likley lads Edward Jean born 1872 making him 53 at demise and Edward John born 1892 age 33 .If he was born USA/Canada do you know where your "Poll " line came from ?

Looking for info on my uncle, Andrew Poll. According to my cousin, his name was originally Poll but was changed to Paul so "it wouldn't sound so Polish". Andrew was born in 1909 (I don't know where), married Winifred Batty in 1938 in Newark, NJ and died in 1958. They had 3 children: Joseph, Richard and Arlene.

Hello David,
The clockmakers in my tree are Robert Poll, 1731-1815, Metfield, Suffolk & his son Philip Robert, 1775-1846, Bungay, Suffolk.The majority of my tree has also spread into Norfolk.

A bit late but saw your POLL replies .The clock makers ring a memory did one move to suffolk . The dates are interesting as I have been trying to locate as much info on all UK,POLL's as Poss to isolate the branches and I aslo seem to have Ishmael or one of them in a possible tree,My quest for branches is due to an airbrush on my family line due most likley to a little stay in Norwich Jail about 1851/7.
Seem to remember that a Poll family of clockmakers was listed in the trade directory for suffolk area ,but not as early as yours.

You must be Kees's daughter then. Your uncle (my dad J.D. Poll) is living here in Victoria, Canada - and I am too.
I think I met your sister Wendela a looong time ago...but I don't remember if WE ever met.

My dad died a few years ago.

My lot are now Paul's, changed when he came from England.

Thank you very much for your response, but I doubt that there are any ties between yours and my family. I have looked through my information but have not discovered any relations.
Some more information about Kornelis Pol: Kornelis Pol (Cornlius Poll), born 9th december 1845 at Niehove, died in the USA in 1932. He was a child from Derk Egberts Pol en Dieuwerke Geerts Roon. He lived in Garnwerd in the Netherlands (province Groningen). In 1873 he moved to the USA, lived in Grand Rapids, Kent, Michigan. Siblings: Egbert, Geert, Jantje and Geertje.
If this additional information rings any bells, please let me know.

Hmmm we MAY be related. I'll tell you what I know. My grandfather was Jacobus Daniel Poll (1889-1945) and his kids were Kornelis Dorotheus Poll
Jacobus Daniel Poll (my dad) and Charles August Poll. Based on the family names it seems there could be a relation but I don't know very much about that side of my family.
My grandfather's siblings were:
Albert
Daniel (Domke)
Arend
Anneke
Hendrick

Hello, I am looking for descendants of Kornelis Pol en Wietske van der Veen. They moved from the Netherlands to the USA in 1873.
By Census 1880 Michigan, Grand Rapids: Cornelius Poll en Witska Poll, children Derk, Jacoba, Garem, Abbott en John (John married Ranky Nyhoff in 1903)

I have two Robert Poll`s in my tree, father & son, who were both clockmakers, in the 1700 & early 1800`s in Norfolk. Do these tie in with your Ishmael Robert at all?

i am interested in information on adelheid poll dob 1834 in germany came over to the u s after 1846. in 1850 her and her family were listed in the cincinnati ohio census. adelheid married john h spellmeier (spellmeyer) 10/14/1858 in cincinnati ohio. they had 2 children john henry died in infancy, and catharina dob abt 1860 born in cincinnati ohio. i also believe they had 2 other children or at least adelheid did they were: carrie spellmeier(spellmeyer) dob 1874 in cincinnati, ohio, and laura anna spellmeier(spellmeyer) dob 5/25/1875 in cincinnati, ohio. any information on any of these individuals would be greatly appricated.

i am interested in john h poll dob 11/23/1804 birthplace prussia dod 3/31/1867 in cincinnati, ohio he was a tailor, christina wife dob abt 1808, they had 8 children: margaret born abt 1829, j. bernhard born abt 1830 he also was a tailor, adelaide dob abt 1834, albert dob abt 1838, gerhard dob abt 1840, william dob abt 1842, henry dob abt 1844, and maria dob abt 1846 all the children were born in germany. sometime after 1846 they all come over to the us. and in 1850 ohio census they were listed. any information on any of this family is greatly appreciated.

i am trying to find out why on a marriage license of maria adelaide she only signed it maria adelaide with pe behind her name no last name when she married john henry spellmeier in cincinnati hamilton county ohio. he went by henry spellmeier i was also told that he was captain spellmeier i don't know if he was in the miltary or a riverboat captain or what

if you would know why someone would sign pe behind their fist and middle name please let me know.

I'm new to the Poll family tree search. I may be related to a Peter Poll who was listed on the 1920 Kent Co., MI Census (ED 89, page 47) at 512 Shamrock St with his wife Minnie. Peter was born about 1888 in Michigan but both parents were born in the Netherlands. On the same page is a listing for a Johanna (57) & _____ Poll (69) - emigrated in 1881 and born in the Netherlands. They are listed with son Harry - 19 - and daughter Johanna - 16.

Peter "Paul" and wife Minnie are also listed on the 1930 Grand Rapids census at the same address - ED 90 - page 7.

I would be most interested in any information you may have on any Polls (Pauls) who were originally from the Netherlands. I am also trying to find out if Minnie is my Aunt Minnie - maiden name Tennis. Her parents were also from the Netherlands.
