OBITUARY --
Mrs. Mary M. POLLARD, wife of Stephen T. POLLARD, died Feb. 11, 1893.
She was born in the Province of Quebec, near Dailesville, Canada, Feb. 14th, 1862. She met and married Mr. POLLARD in Haverhill, Mass., Sept. 16th, 1885. Shortly after they visited her parents in Canada and there they buried their darling Constance.
From an injury received from a jump, and afterwards from a jar in a fall of a hammock, the first lung trouble was developed. They came West, first to Nevada, then to this State, for her health, leaving Canada July 5th, 1888. She died of bronchial asthma, in Hanford, at the residence of Mr. Elmer D. THOMPSON.
She joined the Baptist church when a young girl. Her Bible is marked all through with pencil marks and marginal comments. She was timid and feared death, but when the hour came she expressed herself to Mrs. T. as willing to go. Mrs. T. prayed for her at her request. She said the word of God is "so good, so comforting." Her last word was "All is well."
The funeral took place from the residence where she died. The writer preached a short discourse from Mark 14:8: "She hath done what she could." (1) For her salvation by seeing the blood of Jesus through faith applied to her heart; (2) To make friends and the world happy.
As the sun was sinking into the west her body was laid to rest under some evergreens in the quiet city of the dead, there to await the resurrection morning.
V.W. ROBINSON
Pastor of Baptist Church
