Sorry it took so long to reply. Although my ancestors were from Ventimiglia, Sicily we could still be related as that is only 20 miles from Palermo. We have the Pollina and Saso surnames in common. I have come to a dead end at this point and find it hard to research.

I just discovered my great-great-grandmother was a Pollina, so just now found this board. Your posting was interesting, not only because of the Pollina surname but also because of the Saso surname. My great-great-grandmother was Maria Rosa Pollina, whose son, Giorgio (George) Rivaldo married Ippolita (Pauline Guzzardo). Their daughter, Josephine married Matteo Saso (my grandparents.) Josephine and Matteo emmigrated from Palermo, Caccamo, Sicily. They eventually settled first in Coal City, Illinois and then in the Chicago area.

Any connection?

I just discovered my great-great grandmother was a Pollina, so I just found this board. From which Pollina line do you descend? My grandmother's name was Josephine Rivaldo (married Matteo Saso.) Her father was Giorgio Rivaldo, whose mother was Maria Rosa Pollina. Giorgio (George) and his wife Ippolita (Pauline) Guzzardo emmigrated from Palermo, Caccamo, Sicily and settled in the Chicago area.

Is there any connection?

Who did she marry? My great-great-grandmother's name was Maria Rosa Pollina. She married Vincenzo Nicasio Rivaldo. My grandparents emmigrated from Caccamo, Palermo, Sicily.

My great grandmother was Maria Pollina. She had a brother named Marco who lived in NYC at the turn of the century. I have passenger lists showing she came from Baucina Sicily in 1901. Would be interested if anyone knows anything more

My name is concetta pollina as well as my grandmother, aunt, cousin, and many other relatives in Italy are also named Concetta. My Dad's name is Joesph frank pollina, we live in Kansas City MO. I am 16 years old

My Great-Great Grandmother was Katerina Pollina and was married to Filipe Saso, they were from Ventimiglia, Sicily. Their daughter was Josephina Saso and was married to Giuseppe Rizzo, they married in New York City in 1895 and lived in the Canarsie area of Brooklyn. Could you possibly be related? Where in Italy were your Pollina ancestors from?

My grandfather is Joseph J. Pollina. He lived in Columbus, Ohio all of his life. He has brothers Nicholas, and Edward, and a sister, Rose. Any relatives are welcome to keep in touch with me. I am also from Columbus, Ohio but now live in Guilford, CT.
