The cihildren of Stephen E. Pomfret and Carol J. (Swiderski) Pomfret

I know that my first cousins' names are Stephanie E. Pomfret (born 1970), Julie C. Pomfret (born 1972), and Matthew J. Pomfret (born 1979), but as to their whereabouts is unknown. I am sure that my cousins Stephanie and Julie are married, but have no idea as to their married names or their addresses & phone numbers. As to Matthew, I am sure that he still lives in Maynard, Massachusetts. Their parents are Stephen E. Pomfret and Carol J. (Swiderski) Pomfret and both were born in 1946, which would make them 63 years old and my cousins would be 39, 37, and 30. Any and all information can be emailed to me at my Yahoo address, creanaugusta@yahoo.com; thanks. I will furnish to them my street address and phone number.

Likewise, my maternal grandmother was a Pomfret. She married a Patrick Brazil of Meriden, CT in 1889 and they had five children. Her father's name was Bartholomew Pomfret and they spelled their name as "Pomfrey".

Thanks June.My relatives/some came from Preston, Lancashire.I come from Preston but live in Lincoln now and there is only one Pomfret listed in the phone book.About 2-3 years ago I came across some old diaries of my Father's, his name was John/Jack Pomfret, he died in 1976 aged 55, he had a sister Vera who was much older than him but I lost contact in mid 80,s.In the diaries an address for Llansing, Michigan was found and the name Irene and Paul Pomfret Boynton, so I looked on Reuter and found the number and rang her.She was in her early eighties and was about to go on the internet,we spoke and found out mutual things, sadly she died about 18 months after our first talk but sent me a short family tree.I have a letter from an uncle John from America around 1910 I am trying to find any other blood relatives in the U S A or anywhere but would love to show this to anyone related to him.I am also trying to find anything about my relative Thomas Pomfret, he was a clogger in Lancs born feb 28 1898.Any info would be of great joy to me .Thanks for your time.

I am related to the Pomfrets of Blackburn which is only about 10 miles down the road so likely to tie in somewhere. I can't see a David at the moment in the tree but if you give me some idea of when he was born and any more detail you have I can ask my mother for you. I used to work in Clitheroe and know it well.

Best regards

Chris Lloyd

Paul

I don't have anything on my tree although it has been quite easy to trace Margaret. Born Oct-Dec 1905 (Birth Certificate 8e 257) looking at the 1901 Census her parents appear to be David and Martha. David was born in 1871 in Livesey which is a part of Blackburn and where my Pomfrets originated. His father was William Henry Pomfret (1849) and his father was James (1828). Information all available on Ancestry.com. Although I was born in Blackburn and worked in Clitheroe I never met another Pomfret but there are loads of Benjamin Pomfrets in the early Census records and I am related to one of them so it gets very difficult to trace. No doubt we are related a bit further up the tree and let me know if you want any more assistance. Another good website where you can order the birth certificate is www.lancashirebmd.org.uk. I am more than happy to send you my Pomfret details if you are interested. Chris

Please go to the Herndon Board under Rootsweb where I have posted a message regarding Sarah Pomfrett and John Herndon. Sarah was the d/o John William Fermer Pomfrett and Sarah Aylett. John Herndon was the s/o Edward Herndon and Mary Elizabeth Waller..

I am interested in information that would prove John and Sarah Pomfrett Herndon as the parents of my George Herndon who married Sarah Wingfield. George died in Orange Cty. N.C. 1796? Thank you . Ann

MICHAEL GORMAN was my GGGrandfather, who was born about 1851 and died in 1878 at the Union Workhouse in Wigan, Lancashire, England. He was only 28 when he died of typhoid. He married MARGARET DORAN, daughter of MICHAEL DORAN and MARY GORE.

Margaret appears in the 1881 UK Census. She was 25 years old, the daughter of MICHAEL DORAN and the widow of MICHAEL GORMAN who died in 1878. She was born in 1856 in Wigan, Lancashire, England. She was a Cotton Operative. MARGARET DORAN-GORMAN married a second time to THOMAS DOYLE. They had two known children: THOMAS DOYLE and JOHN DOYLE.

MICHAEL GORMAN and MARGARET DORAN had one son, STEPHEN GORMAN who married ANNIE POMFRET.

STEPHEN (1878-1930) and ANNIE POMFRET (1877-1965) worked at a rooming house/pub in Wigan, Lancashire, England. The pub was known as "The Golden Lion." It was located in Wallgate, Wigan.

STEPHEN GORMAN ws the son of MICHAEL GORMAN (1853-1878) and MARGARET DORAN (1853-±1918). ANNIE POMFRET was the daughter of WILLIAM POMFRET 1855-+1901) and MARY ALICE HILTON (1854-1903).

Three of their five children: Stephen, Harold, and William were born in the flat above the Golden Lion Pub. STEPHEN GORMAN and ANNIE POMFRET had two more children born in Providence, Rhode Island: GLADYS and BEATRICE GORMAN.

STEPHEN GORMAN emigrated to the United States on board the White Star Line Ship "Baltic" and arrived at Ellis Island on 12 October 1905 and settled in Rhode Island.

ANNIE POMFRET emigrated to the United States in 1906 following her husband the year before. She brought her children, Stephen, Harold and William. She also brought her brother and sister, Beatrice Pomfret and William Pomfret. In 1918 she lived at 69 Aurora Street, Providence, RI.

ANY information greatly appreciated!

Additional names connected by marriage to the GORMANs I am researcing: DORAN, POMFRET, HILTON, DOYLE, BRADSHAW, BULPITT
I am trying to find more information on Sarah Pomfret b, 1843 in Burnley England. Sarah married Moses Eastwood someitme in the 1855-1865 range probably in Burnley,Lancashire. He was a blacksmith and they appear in the 1871 UK census living the Harbergham Eaves section of Burnley. I do not have details of Sarah's parentage and am stymied by the large number of Pomfrets in the Lancashire area. Can anyone help narrow the field for me? Sarah is my g-grandnmother .
