Pomfrey/Pumfrey of Newnham Gloucestershire, UK.

My husband's family are the Pumfreys of Upton on Severn in Worcestershire and we have found a possible link back to the Pomfrey/Pumfrey family of Newnham and Tewkesbury and the Pomfrey alias Weale family also of Newnham.

Richard Pumfrey born c1470 married Elizabeth (Pyper)Weale in 1510.

If anyone has information on this family, I would love to hear from them.

DELHI, NY — Bertha B. Franck, 106, a 26 year Delhi resident, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, Feb. 12, 2005, at Countryside Care Center, where she had been residing for the past seven years.The daughter of the Rev. George and Rachel (Gaynor) Pomfrey, she was born Nov. 17, 1898, in Kingsbury, Washington County.She was married twice, first to Frederick Willets, and later to Edward Franck; both predeceased her.Formerly of Westchester County, Bertha was self-employed for many years in the sale of women’s dresses, and lived in Elmsford until moving to Delhi in 1979, where she was an active and devoted charter member of the Delhi Alliance Church.She was skilled in the now almost "lost art" of tatting and made numerous doilies for her family and friends.Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Ralph Partelow of Delhi; a son, Frederick B. Willets of Walton; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by a sister, Madeline Elliot.Friends are invited to call 4 to 6 p.m. today, Feb. 14, at the Hall & Peet Funeral Home, Delhi, when the family will be in attendance.Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Delhi Alliance Church, Meredith Road, by the Rev. David Wheatley, and burial will be later in the Woodland Cemetery, Delhi.Memorial contributions to the Delhi Alliance Church will be appreciated. Arrangements are entrusted to Robert A. Peet, Delhi.

Your father and I are third cousins. His great grandfather George Oscar POMFREY and my great grandmother Ella Jackson POMFREY BAILEY were siblings. Altogether, there were 11 childen in their family from New Kent Co., VA. You may email me for more specifics. The new Kent Historical Society can be very helpful. My great grandmother's name was Mary Ada Pomphrey. Her father, Mathew Pomphrey emigrated to Canada from Clifton, Bristol, England in 1868.

I just thought seeing our ancestors are both from Bristol, we may be related in some way...

Anyway...it has been a long time since you have posted a message...you may have found out some more information by now. If you have, I would love to find out anything I can about the Pomphreys of Bristol.

Just checking out my family history, looking to find out more about my family tree and where we came from or originated... My full name is William Ronald Pomfrey,Jr from the Richmond area of Virginia. My Grandfather was William Fredrick Pomfrey, Jr... Not certain where we fit in ive never seen a full layout or any for that matter of family tree... Hope yall are all doing well....Hope to hear back from someone...
