I am trying to locate descendants of Porfirio Ponce. He helped my wife's Great Grandmother get from El Paso, TX to Silver City, NM around 1917. We believe he was a relative of Santiago Ponce, my wife's Great Grandmother. Porfirio and his wife, Frances Valenzuela had 12 children, 8 of whom survived infancy.

There is also an error in his obit. He died on 12 Sep 1972, in Silver City, NM. His age is given as 94. He was Christened in 1871 according to a Church record.

I'm researching Juana or Maria Ponce who married Arturo Cavieres probably in the late 1890's and lived and owned land in Limache Chile. She died in approx 1904 in Limache. They had a daughter Graciela who was born in 1901. I don't know about any other children. Any information would be great.

I have tracked my wife's family from her Great Grandfather, Santiago Ponce (1870-1913) ( back six more generations (Tiburcio, Agustin, Antonio, Justo, Pedro) to Juan Ponce and Juana Gutierrez in Chihuahua around 1653. I have been unable to find any information on their births or marriage. Are these names familiar to anyone out there? While doing this I put together a list of 1100 Ponces in my family tree file. After 1650 Most of these people live in Chihuahua and some in the United States.

Please help. I have been researching Ponce's for 10 years now and have a large volume of information regarding the Minorcan line in the US (not necessarily more than anyone else, just a fairly good collection).

HOWEVER... I cannot find my grandmother and I would desperately love to know her. Her father was DJ Ponce, son of Thomas Ponce, s. of Thomas Ponce. His uncle was Charles Ponce. He married Lucille Clipper and died in St.Augustine of pneumonia in 1933. I can find little or no record of their existence other than that.

My grandmother disappeard around 1950 when my mother was very young and no one in our family has heard from her since. If you have any information about living relatives or family please write me. schul1me@yahoo.com or swalker@stumpf.org

I've heard the same story many times during my travels. I was once in Italy and met some French people and my last name became the topic of interest. They claimed that the name Ponce is very well known in the areas nearest the Pyrenees mountain range that borders Spain & France. You can also study the Leon Province in Spain and its location relative to France.

I'm trying to learn more about an uncle I've never met. Tomas Ponce, or Tommy as my mom (his sister) refers to him has been apart from his four sisters, one brother for many years. He was in the military.

I'm just hoping to find a new link to the family. I know they grew up in Southern California-from San Diego to Orange County. They also lived in El Paso, TX- His parents Agustin and Maria were both from Chihuahua, MX.

from what i gather looking at my skin color i can say that we either came from France or Spain. both countrys invaded Mexico and inter breed with them. My family crest is a lion. so what i think is that long ago maybe in Spain some one droped the de Leon and just became ponce came to mexico in the war had sex with the ppl here.But my grandpa in mexico says that we might be french or from France.

Does your Ramon have siblings or do you have any other info on him?

My father's grandmother is Amalia Ponce de Leon, she was born circa 1860 in Peru. She married Jorge Herrera around 1877. She died around 1947 in Chile. Family story goes that her family moved around a lot and that both Amalia's grandfathers served as officers in the Chilean Peruvian War. At some point the families originate in Spain. Unfortunately, all I have to go on are these family stories.

Spanish ancestry is hard to do when you're from South America or Spain.

My paternal grandmother's last name is Ponce, and my paternal granfather is Alvidrez. They lived in Parral, but both are now deceased. My father also mentioned that Flores is also part of the Alvidrez line, and Labrado from the Ponce side...

"Lalo" Ponce sounds very familiar to me. I will speak with my only surviving Uncle for any information. My grandfather, Francisco Ponce was from Chihuahua (I think). They raised 11 of 13 children in Rivera (Pico) & Whittier.
