I was looking thru some old papers of my mothers who died 20 years ago and feeling nostalgic, when I came upon my dads certificate of death. His name was Harold Ponds, Ponds is my maiden name. On the certificate was his fathers name which I never knew, it was William Ponds . He had married a woman named Marrie Anderson. My dad had always told us that he was Choctaw, and something else he called Red Indian noted for their very red skin color, he said his sisters had hair so long that they could sit on it. I had started reading a book about the heritage of Black Indians and this is what prompted me to see if I could find some relatives who could help me find my full heritage. My great grandfather lived in the south I,m not sure where, but my dad lived the early parts of his life in Florida and Alabama. Could it be that my great grandfather and yours were brothers?

I recently was researching my husband's family tree. A cousin did a lot of research. I have the Ponds, Sanders, and Phifer family tree. I find your Thomas Andrew Sanders. Was he not a son of Franklin Sanders and Laura Phifer? I have all of his siblings listed.

Your ancestry file is incorrect for one of your ancestors and I have more info for you on the John W Perfect married Laura Poor from Union Twp, Delaware Co. IN. descendents. They married Aug 11 1886 in Wells Co. IN. Laura Poor's mother 'whom you refer to as Grandma Poor' in your chart is actually Martha (Haynes) Poor from OHIO who married Thomas C. Poor in Union twp, Delaware Co. IN. His 2nd marriage. Laura (Poor) Perfect was one of 12 children to Thomas and Martha. Parents of John W Perfect who married Laura Poor (it's not John Herbert like Ionee Ponds said) are John and Sarah Perfect of Wells Co. Indiana buried in Tomlinson Cemetery. Too much info to list here but it's not Laura Clark, it's Laura Poor. (Unless you know of a 2nd marriage she did really late in her life that I'm not aware of). She was born in Delaware Co IN, moved to Butte City, Silver Bow County Mt, to be around her mom and 2 other sisters. Then she took off to Nevada according to her mothers obituary 1907. Then back to Butte to live in boardinghouse w/ her sister Martha J Dougherty in 1910,1920. Then mention of her living in Alhambra MT. I am currently looking for her date of death and cemetery where she is buried.

I am searching for my father's side of the family from NC, and the farthest I can get is to my great grandfather...
My great grandfather's name was Thomas Andrew Sanders, and his wife's name was Rosa... Her maiden name was Ponds or Pond... I can't find her anywhere... But I would love to be able to find her family. I know she had a brother by the name of Will...
Rosa and her brother were full-blooded Cherokee, so I am not sure if that is their Indian names or their white names... I am guessing their white names...
Anyway, if anyone can help me, I would appreciate it very much.

My Rosa Ponds married Thomas Andrew Sanders, and was found on the 1920 census. What we are trying to find is her parents, who are supposed to be full-blooded Cherokee....

This William Pond/Ponds married to Nancy Deborah had nine children. William Pond/Ponds is in the Pickens County, Alabama census 1850, 1860 and 1870.

Good morning to all...
I am looking for information on JAMES D PONDS, who was born around 1890-1900. I do not know where, only that it was in the South. He married a woman named Mattie Jane Quinn,( Mattie may be short for something else),who was also born in the South, and they had a daughter named Helen Mae Ponds on June 21,1921 in Macon, Georgia. They may have had other children. Family rumor has it that after James and Mattie split up, Mattie went to S.C. to live with her family and James went out West.
