For those of you who are interested in the results of the dna comparison of men from the Johannes and Nicholas Lines, the first results are in for 37 dna marker tests.
The two lines share a common genetic family line. It is haplogroup E3b. But, they have three mismatches in the 37 markers, two mismatches in slowly changing markers and one mismatch in a quickly changing marker (one would expect to see most or all of the mismatches in descendants of brothers to be in the quickly changing markers).
The data strongly suggests that Johannes and Nicholas were NOT brothers.
A calculation of genetic distance using the data from the 37 markers, shows that their most likely common ancestor was at least 6 or 7 generations prior to the birth of Johannes Pontius in 1717.
