FRANK English Pontius, 84, a resident of San Bernardino for 8-1/2 years, passed away on February 11, 2008, in Ontario, CA. He was born in Fort Wayne, Ind. He was a Sound Engineer in the movie industry for 35 years, working for NBC, RCA and Westrex. Frank received an Oscar from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences for Outstanding Achievement 1941. Samuel L. Warner Award Motion Picture Sound 1991. Sound Pioneer Award from the Motion Picture Industry. Life Fellow in the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers. Frank was also an avid golfer and traveler. He is survived by his wife, Betty J. Pontius of San Bernardino; step-daughter, Judy L. Brumm of Lake Arrowhead; and 2 grandchildren. Frank loved his wife Betty with all his being, and adored his step-grandchildren, Logan Brumm, Tory Ward and her husband, Matt. In his heart he adopted his step-daughter, Judy, and her husband, Jody Brumm of Lake Arrowhead. Also, his brother-in-law, Leo Priest, a Pearl Harbor survivor and his wife, Grace, from Palm Springs. Also, four nieces and one nephew from and around Indianapolis, Indiana. Frank was always thanking God for his wonderful friends and his joys in life. We will all miss him deeply. He was so full of love. Chapel Service: February 19, 2008, at 2 P.M. at Mt. View Mortuary. Interment following at Mt. View Cemetery.
